Customer Reviews

Works well so far but a little pricey for a knockoff.I have researched this product since receiving it & have found out that this is a knockoff of the original. It came in a plain plastic bag. When I went to the "takeashower.com" website I found that this product has a registered trademark & is only available from the distributor's website & no 3rd party (e.g. Amazon) can sell the original product. There is an in-depth review on the differences between the original & the knockoff posted in the Amazon reviews. This product has a plastic housing vs. the heavier original. The price for the two is almost the same. It's a shame that the owner is being ripped off. That being said it seems to work well so far. I am on a water well with a fairly slow flow rate. Good, wide & fairly powerful spray pattern. Works better than the shower head that was replaced. I have used better in several hotels, but do not know what brand they use. I would have been willing to pay a few extra dollars for the original patented product however. Time will tell if it holds up to my standards.4WOW!! My roommate's shower water pressure was dismal and she was struggling just to wash her hair. Just a miserable disappointing shower... then this little shower head arrived in the mail , it was very simple to 'install' and OMG the best shower of her life, no joke!! This shower head is truly amazing!! It gives an INCREDIBLE amount of pressure especially with the massage setting!! The only trouble she's had is turning the head to change the setting requires two hands and if you aren't careful you can start to unscrew the whole thing but that is very easily fixed so I did not deduct any stars. The price is great too so buy this and ENJOY!! 5This is the best shower head for low pressure that I've tried.I'm in a 2 story house with 60 PSI water pressure (the average for a house) but the ceilings are high. Pushing water up to the second floor loses between 5-10 PSI so my upstairs showers are a bit anemic. I decided to replace my shower head with a 2.5 Gallon per minute head and didn't have much better luck. I've gone through 5-6 shower heads from several bigger brands (with flow restrictor removed) without success. I saw a review that was similar to my expectancy and they recommended this shower head. This is the first shower head where I can feel the pulses from the massage settings. The shower goes from a decent sized spray to a very tight massage beam of water all with better pressure than any of the other shower heads and I didn't have to sit there removing the flow restrictor. Unlike mu last shower head I could easily aim the shower head without tightness and it stayed where I put it. Notches in the head gives wet fingers traction when changing settings. I'm going to be replacing my other shower head with another of these or the handheld version. Very satisfied. One thing to note, this is apparently NOT the same as the fire hydrant shower head from www.takeashower.com. I contacted them with a question and they don't sell on Amazon. This is apparently a knock off, but it's still a great showerhead.5Best Shower Head Purchase Ever Made! This is the 3rd shower head I attempted to try. After reading reviews and watching a couple you tube videos, all indicators pointed to this shower head. At the price, I decided why not. It was superior to a $50 shower head I purchased at Home Depot. It literally took my average water pressure and amplified it X4. On top of that it had a better cone radius covering more area of the shower space.I don't know how they managed to do it, compared to other shower heads out there, but I must say that I am impressed. I highly recommend this shower head if you are looking to boost your water pressure. I think I am going to purchase another one for my second bathroom.5Basic Head That Noticeably Improves PressureShort story: it's a very basic head that noticeably improved pressure for me. I'm keeping it, but will continue looking for alternatives.I live atop a hill, so water pressure is always an issue for me. I've tried several brands and so far, this is the only one that's improved pressure. My "scientific" method: watch how far nozzle spits out water before gravity takes over. While technically inaccurate, it provides a fair way to compare different heads. The "Fire Hydrant" did better at all settings: pulsating/massage, maximum spray, and "rain." During the actual showers, it was easier/faster to rinse soap off me.I can't give the shower head five stars for a few reasons:(1) Constructed from plastic, so I don't have high hopes for long term durability.(2) Head swivels too easily. As a practical matter, that means I have use two hands to adjust the settings.(3) The threads are awkward. This is the only shower head I've had trouble slipping on to the 'arm' before tightening by hand. I suspect that some people will have trouble installing as a result.Other positives:(a) The settings are distinct. "Massage" pulsates and "max spray is a lot wider.(b) Minimal packaging. Another head I tried included multiple layers of boxes. This is just enough to keep it from getting scratched.(c) Great price. The flipside of the plastic construction: it's got a price to match; it's the least expensive head I've tried.4Comparison Between Two Fire Hydrant Units...EDIT: I have revised some wording in this review based on some feedback from Take a Shower LLC. Also, as an update after a few months of using this product, my shower remains satisfying but both modes does not feel that it has as strong a pressure as it did initially. I can't say whether this is due to me simply getting used to it or whether it's something in the product itself, but it's worth mentioning. Also, after a few uses, I was able to switch modes with one hand depending on how careful I am with turning it. Regardless, I have lost count of how many times I have turned the unit to change modes only to realize I am unscrewing the entire shower head, so it is still not perfect. How to even begin...I bought this unit along with another unit from Water Management LLC (takeashower.com) after reading all the reviews out there. I wanted to make sure I was getting the right unit, so I figured I'll just pick up both and compare to see which one was legit. I received both unit on the same day, and this unit from Amazon/Take a Shower LLC immediately gave me red flags. It came minimally wrapped and in a bubble envelope, unlike the Water Management unit, which came in a box and presented like an actual product rather than something I bought from China through ebay. I took a bunch of side by side pics (Amazon/Take a Shower LLC unit on the left, Water Management LLC unit on the right) that basically tell the story, but basically, this unit didn't even have the same shape as the pictures show, felt cheap overall, and required both hands (that's right, you read it) to switch between modes when it's on/installed. On the other hand, the Water Management LLC unit felt twice as heavy, looked way more premium, and you could actually switch the modes with one hand. As I was taking these pictures, in my head, I was thinking of how I would destroy the Amazon unit so hard...That is, until I tried the units out. I tried the Water Management unit first. There are two modes only with both of these shower heads, a narrow spray of three strong streams, and a wide (quite wide and far reaching!) spread. With the narrow spraw, the Water Management unit was impressive, much better than the Speakman hotel unit I was replacing. Once I turned to the wide spray however, disappointment began to sink in. The water pressure of the wide spread was low, worse than the wide spread of the Speakman hotel unit that I replaced. The spray was wide and far reaching, but it was barely enough to rinse my hair. It definitely didn't feel satisfying....With half hearted feelings, I unscrewed the unit and went to screw on the Amazon/Take a Shower unit without much expectations. I figure they couldn't be that different in terms of performance right? After all, aside from the shape and a couple of tiny details, they are basically identical in terms of how the water comes out....Screwed it on, turned it on...hmm, the narrow spray felt a little stronger than the other unit. Mind you, the other unit's narrow spray was already strong, but this one felt a tiny bit stronger and the spray amount seems to be the same. Turned it to the wide spray...(begrudgingly with both hands, one holding the unit while the other turning the crown)...and my jaw dropped. The wide spray has the same strong wide pattern as the other unit, the difference was that the water pressure maintained it's high intensity. This is a wide spray with just as much pressure as the narrow spray! I couldn't believe it. The two units are almost identical, but somehow, this clearly cheaper unit managed to do what the "original" didn't. I spent the next half an hour examining the two units and switching out the washers/filter between the two units to try to figure out what the difference is, but I couldn't. The hole on the back side of the unit was the same size in both units and the face of the unit where water comes out of looks identical! Whatever magic is in this unit, has the power. So the conclusion is here. You got the Amazon unit that feels cheap and have some inconveniences like not being able to change modes with a single hand vs the other unit which is much more solidly built and can change modes with one hand (I believe this difference is because the ball joint is a lot looser on the Amazon unit while the crown itself is tighter, so when you try to turn the crown, the entire unit turns because of how loose the ball joint is compared to how tight the crown is...The other unit has a much tighter ball joint and a much looser crown. If someone knows how to modify this unit to do that, this would be that much closer to a perfect unit). BUT...this unit is the only unit that actually works as advertised! I have lived in many apartments as a kid and have even lived in many hotels, so I have used more than my fair share of shower head units and I have never had water pressure like this unit has provided. I am sincerely looking forward to my shower tomorrow.4Got us back to pressure we were used toAfter our new water heater blew (literally, because the new water heaters can't take high pressure) we installed a pressure gauge that left us with low water pressure. This shower head got us back (almost) to what we had and we were very happy with it. Almost a year later we noticed water strength was not as good. Found the head was loaded in calcium build-up upon inspection. We soaked head in bowl of vinegar and that got us back to original pressure. Hope that helps others.5Calling it a "Fire Hydrant" is not a gimmickDo not let the regular look of this showerhead fool you. It is a fire hydrant. If you want to use every ounce of water available, this is your showerhead. It isn't going to conserve a drop. Its design forces the available water into the strongest shower I've had outside of a hotel. It's fantastic and easily the best showerhead I've ever tried. The one downside (and how I can tell it's not conserving anything), my floor drain can barely keep up with the downpour. I actually started only turning my water on about 80% of the available flow to balance out what my drain can handle. That being said, not really the worst problem to have.5High pressure shower from normal to low home water pressureThis shower head absolutely delivers on its promise of a high pressure shower. We have average or normal water pressure in our home. I wouldn't really say we have low pressure, but I wanted something with more force than what we had. This shower head transformed our boring shower head into a prickly beatdown of a shower experience with tons of water force. Exactly as advertised!Installation:Installation was easy enough for an unskilled person like me. Seriously, I'm dangerous with a hammer. But I had the old shower head removed and the new one installed in less than five minutes. Only needed an old towel for grip and to protect the finish on the shower head and a pair of adjustable pliers.---Pros:Adjustable levels of abuse are included in this shower head. You can adjust from hard shower to draw blood shower with just a flick of the wrist. The shower head is easy manipulated with just one hand, leaving the other hand available as a shield for your delicates against the razor water.---Cons:If you like long hot showers, this is probably not for you. This shower head exhausts our entire 30 gallons of hot water in about 7 or 8 minutes. If you are not careful you will wet your entire bathroom with this thing. Aim it down when you are finished.---Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and with the high quality craftsmanship of the product.5Good but not great. The pulse massage stoped workingI really enjoyed the massage jet stream until it s stoped pulsating and turned to a regular not so great stream. As far as the regular function as a normal shower mode is not so great. Gives you a good amount of pressure that comes out strong but the stream it too thin So it doesn t blast the soap off of your body as you would expect. There is no water restrictor to remove so you get what you get. I have great water pressure in my bathroom so I expected more of a powerful experience but unfortunately no banana it might be good for low water situations but I really wouldn t know.3Life Changing Product!!! I m just going to tell you. I loveeeeeee this product so much! I m in a townhome where the water pressure is not great with the original shower head. I couldn t really wash my hair in the shower due to the low pressure. I decided to give this product a try after reading the comments. OMGosh what an amazing difference. It was so easy to put on. We used a pair of pliers to remove the old one, screwed on this shower head and used the pliers to tighten it up. That s it. Easy peezy. I did not put on the washer that fits inside. I wanted the maximum water flow possible. There are several different flow settings by moving the head in a circular pattern.Taking a shower and washing my hair is now an amazing experience. I ordered a second one for my son s bathroom. He had actually started using my shower. I have also told my neighbors and friends about it. It s defintely a purchase you will not regret. BUY IT! 5BEST SHOWER IN YEARSMy water pressure has progressively worsened over the last 8-9 years. I ve tried several low pressure shower heads without success....until now. Other heads pushed air through leaving you rinsing forever or the jets were so thin you had to run around to get wet. This is so amazing, the jets are wide, strong and reach the back of the shower- the massage setting actually HURTS. I buy everything off Amazon and barely ever review but I had too on this. Thank you to everyone who did previously!5
