    Electric cord connection fails inside light base I've bought at least three of these in the last few years for my wife's sewing machine. I have no complaint about the light or its design EXCEPT that on two of them the cord connection as it enters the circular light base fails. My wife leaves it connected to her machine and doesn't remove it. She moves the chrome gooseneck, but never the white base with the on/off switch. Nevertheless, eventually, the white cord connection where the power enters the circular base will short out. I've taken one apart and it's caused by a failed solder connection. If we had used it hard and pulled on the cord I could understand it breaking connection. But my wife installed them and left them alone, except for using the on/off switch. For as expensive as they are, they should be a little more durable! Otherwise, it's a great little lamp. Since another just failed (flickering light when cord is touched) I'm not sure if I'll buy the same type again, not for just over thirty dollars each! All three I've purchased in the last couple of years from Amazon. 1Must-have for sewers over 50! This product is a must have! I did not realize how blindly I was sewing until I used this and now I cannot live without it! If you're like me (slightly over 50yo :-) then this is the best investment you can make for your sewing pleasure!! 5Tiny Spot Light This light give a nice bright beam but has a very small diameter - more like a very intense spot light in one small area. Somewhat awkward on the sewing machine - tends to get in the way one way or another. Before I purchased this, I just used a bendable desk lamp to the side and behind the sewing machine for better lighting and it worked just as well without being in the way as much. I think there are probably better ways to get better lighting for sewing. It's not bad but not all that great either. Really wish it had a wider beam. 3A superior product for your workspace I have used these lights for many years on all of my sewing machines. When I sold my old machine and left it s Bendable Bright Light on it, I needed a new one. The one on my old machine worked frequently and flawlessly for nearly 10years and was still perfect when I sent it on to its new owner. I ordered a new one, it arrived unbelievably quickly, and if anything, it s of even better quality than my old one. When I would bend my old one to shine in a particular spot, the light s position would drift off from where I wanted it. It always took a bit of jiggle-fritzing to get the light to stay in the right place. The new one, though, is just great...it holds exactly where you put it for as long as you want it there. It s really bright, the bulb I know will last practically forever, and it even came with 6 instead of 4 mounting clips. The cord is quite long, allowing me to plug it into my surge protector several feet away. This is a superior quality addition to anyone s work space, built to last for many years. You won t regret getting one. 5Know where you are going to place it!! Great light for my wife's sewing machine. The only issue we have is the fact that once you attach the light to your machine, you cannot remove it without breaking something. A better way of attaching and being able to move it around would be preferred. 4Great Little Light I have purchased four of these so far (not all from Amazon), and I love them. I really like that the light doesn't interfere with the support space on my sewing table, and that I can move the head of the light into different positions. It is great to be able to see as I sew on dark fabrics! So far, the light I purchased from Amazon doesn't have the issues the first lights did - namely that the plug didn't seat well in an outlet, and I had to mess with the plug to get the light to remain lighted. My elderly mother likes the light I placed on her sewing machine too! 5New Plug In Options I have had several of these lights. The are easy to put on your sewing machine. They have added an option to either plug it into an outlet or into a USB port. I plug mine into my sewing machine and so the light comes on when I turn the sewing machine on, which saves an outlet space. 5Changes to product made this flawed Item stopped working within two months (I bought it in March). Had same problem with a previous one. I suspect the USB transformer, as I have two others of this with old style transformer (straight wire to transformer) that still work great after years of use. I would buy again if I knew it had the old-style transformer, as otherwise I love my original lights. I would like to return but it is after the return window. 1Better than ever. Ordered this as a replacement for one I have used for years that finally gave out. I use it on an older sewing machine to shed light right on the needle area and it works great. It is the same light that I purchased years ago but there have been improvements. The flex arm is a little stiffer which makes it stay where you put it better, the light seems to be brighter (newer bulb technology, I think) , there is now a push button on-off switch on top that is handier than the roller switch the old one had, and the price is considerably less than the original model. Can't beat that. 5Just wonderful! I have declining eyesight, so light is very important to me. I put it on my sewing machine, and it does an excellent job of lighting the area around the needle. It was not hard to put on, but they kind of forget to mention situating the tab, so of course I goofed it up. Happily I was able to remove and reposition it with no problem. The cord is held in place with clips that you attach to the back of the machine, so it keeps it out of the way. I took my machine (with light) to a quilting class, and just about every one had positive things to say about it. I think some folks may have ordered one for themselves after seeing how well it works. Just the touch of a button turns it on and off, the light is bright and steady (I've had some that were not), and the neck is bendable so you can position it just right, and is not wimpy. 5
