Customer Reviews

Don't buy this light. This light is trash. It's not as bright as they show on the box and the switch broke the 3rd time I turned it on. The switch literally broke through the cylinder housing. 1Not bright at all!!! This light is not bright at all!! Cheapie flashlight from the supermarket check out was brighter than this! Usually I take one star reviews with a grain of salt. But I really wish I would have listened to them this time. :( 1BEING MISLEAD Okay let's start out by saying this is a decent flashlight.. 3 stars is fair enough. The facts are your being mislead to believe that this is waterproof, well IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.. I've contacted Bell Howell corporate to get some answers on the packaging to make sure this isn't a knock off. There kind and professional people except for the initial person who picked up hmm coincidence or maybe a lot of the same calls.. I just asked for a supervisor and then professionalism kicked in PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE! The telescoping end for zooming in and out lol. 1. The lens start's to pop out after a few uses and I purchased 2 both with the same results... 2. We do not know the construction in the telescoping mechanism but it would BE safe to say if THERE ISN'T A RUBBER O-RING at the lens and battery compartment then the good people who purshased this product it's not waterproof. So we now must question all the claims this flashlight can make. I live on the coast so I will test the 2 nautical mile theory. I have yet to try. I as many knowledgeable people will not ever use regular alkaline batteries when there the design is like this you can easily purchase quality rechargable batteries and use in place if there AAA cartridge. If you do read carefully as using Litium ion rechargable batteries is not the same as like energizer rechargable batteries.. So if you do this and this flashlight is NOT WATERPROOF (again it is not) as a mag light or off course the great stream lite... you will not only have wasted your money on the flashlight but your rechargable batteries and charger.. The wrists strap is a great add especially for a compact flashlight.. A decent case would've been great but I guess you get what you pay for... Again if there were rubber o-rings this review might have been different I would add myself but I believe to this point this is bad advertising at its best I will follow up with another review when Prescilla from Corporate Whom I was directed to from another corporate worker returns my phone call.. People do not drop this flashlight in boiling water please.. and there's a nice piece of paper as soon as you open box of an arbitration agreement in such case something goes wrong ....People if you wish is to just throw this in a draw as a knock around flashlight by all means it's worth it but it's not worth it it for the way it is advertised. Just wanna add photos showing there is no rubber o-ring and the orange rubber toggle switch does not make it waterproof.... Nice China marking in a pic.... be very skeptical now... check you history on once a great American manufacturer who started in 1907. Smh . 3Don't waste your money. This flashlight broke after 2 weeks use. First the on off button shifted and was not functional. Next the spring between the batter pack and light bulb broke off. Not worth the price. 1One Star Not what it showed on television 1One Star Not worth your time. Fell apart 1Fell apart in a few days! Could not believe ... Fell apart in a few days! Could not believe it. The product was all it claimed to be for it's short life. Tried to return it, but got no response. : ( 12nd one that has fallen apart. Buyer beware. This is my second Bell + Howell 1176 Taclight. I use the flashlight 1-2 times at night to take my puppy out to go potty. It is on less than 10 minutes a night, which equates to minimal use.I purchased the first one July 29th, 2016 & returned it as the push button on & off switch fell apart. I ordered my replacement Taclight on Aug 24th. We are now 7 weeks later (too late to ask for a refund) and the same thing has happened to this one. There is this soft orange rubber piece that is the on/off button. It covers a metal type button on a spring. This rubber piece keeps coming out. It's a poor design. Additionally, when the orange button is getting stuck & coming out the taclight cycles through its bright to SOS code modes. The concept of this taclight is a good idea; however, it does not hold up under use.I recommend you buy a different product. 1Pretty much the same design on all of the flashlights ... You can buy almost the exact same one, for $5. Look around on amazon. This magical (high lumen) flashlight really isn't so magical after all. These flashlights use CREE LEDs. This isn't new technology at all. CREE has been around since 2012, and they make high lumen, long lasting LEDs for cheap. Bell + Howell is one of those companies that put these TV ads saying they have revolutionized the flashlight world, but in reality, "their" design isn't their design. I'm encouraging you all who read this comment to search "tactical LED flashlight" on amazon and tell me what you find. Pretty much the same design on all of the flashlights by outlite, Tactical Elite, Nestsun, and for $10 cheaper. You can get an outlite tactical LED flashlight for $11. Same functionality, same design, same (five exclusive modes used by highly elite special forces) which is absolute bull. They make you believe that the military has this highly classified flashlight (lol classified flashlights??) that are super bright and durable, when yes, they do use flashlights, but they are nothing like this. The military uses weapon mounted lights. So don't give in to this false advertising that this flashlight is some highly top secret LED technology. Buy one from a different company that doesn't lie about competitor pricing, and who uses it. Police don't use this flashlight. EMS don't use this flashlight. Stop advertising it this way. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. It's only getting this 1 star because the flashlight works, but you can buy the exact same one, for $10 less.Don't take this review as some useless spam, I have two of these flashlights (not Bell+Howell, other brands), and they are the same as this one. Save your money. 1Probably the worst purchase made in the past 10 years Probably the worst purchase made in the past 10 years. While the body of the flashlight is sturdy, the on-off switch broke after one week. It is a very flimsy switch. I would never buy another product like this 1
