Customer Reviews

Any basic circuit trip frys the internal electronics, 4 units dead so far. I purchased eight of these power strips based on the Belkin name, the build robustness and their ability to be mounted securely. But, the robustness ends abruptly, when the units start to die after an overload. I've lost half of the power strips so far. And I don't trust the remaining units to perform reliably in the future. I'll be looking elsewhere to replace the whole lot of them soon. If I though it was a single defective unit, I'd try to get a replacement. But, so many bad units tell another story. 1Off-gassing killed the whole deal This would have been perfect for my need - however - the horrific off-gassing made it impossible for me to use. I have no clue as to why this power strip would produce such a horrendous amount of VOC/off-gassing. But - I simply cannot use it. Well built strip. Standard plug although description states that it has a flat plug. The off-gassing is extreme and for me, the fumes have made me ill - soar throat, pounding head, nausea, etc. I do have MCS/CIRS and I'm extremely sensitive to chemicals/VOCs. Even so, there is a distinct petroleum based/electrical overheating type of smell that is very strong generating from this power strip. Cannot do. 1The only thing I would do differently is provide it with a fuse holder for a 15 amp Class G fuse instead of the circuit breaker As an Electrical Engineer, this device is designed just about exactly the way I would design one if I started from scratch. The only thing I would do differently is provide it with a fuse holder for a 15 amp Class G fuse instead of the circuit breaker since these fuses provide excellent high short circuit current interruption capability, but that would be for my own use since most people find fuses inconvenient. The spacing of the outlets is about perfect so they can virtually all be used with the various chargers and adapters used with today's electronics. It is of sturdy metal construction and it provides common mode and normal mode surge protection to devices plugged into it. Excellent product, highly recommended. 5Plenty Of Outlets Where You Need Them Well made, nice long cord, plug receptacles high quality(and lots of them), extremely sturdy metal housing. I've had one for about like seven years now I'd say and still in fantastic condition seeing primarily moderate mobile use and the rest in a studio. I got that one locally and to my chagrin couldn't find them this time around except here at Amazon. Also the price was right seeing as they aren't that easy to come by. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles as some units nowadays have but since there are power conditioning units I use and plugs into that for my uses these are bid bang for the bucks items. This second one I have a computer and all the extra items plugged into it and it into a UPS unit and located easy to get to as a emergency master quick cutoff switch as every so often I smoke a mobo pushing it to the limits. When you start to smell that pcb starting burn you gots to move really fast to power down to save the rest. Writing this review I do believe I'll order another one and put it in the workshop. 5Only worked for a month At first the item was awesome but all of a sudden it just simply stopped working bought this on Feb 10 2018 and lasted only a little over a month, March 22,2018. I have missed my return window and would never ever purchase this item again. Don't waste your money 1Great unless you're hoping to mount it This seems like a high quality, solid surge protector, and I chose it for the metal body... three sides is better than none, though I'd be happier if the back were metal as well. What really drops the usability for me though are the ridiculous mounting holes on the back. Not sure who you have to be to get those four screws lined up JUST so to fit the small holes with zero wiggle room, but it's not me. I used a paper template for the holes, ruler and level -- nada. Ended up settling for using two screws along one side which is total BS, but four were not going to happen. Here's the kicker: there is NOTHING below/above those stupid back mounting slots -- they could have just drilled holes all the way through the case body to make mounting it no-brainer easy. But no. I wish upon the designers of those back mounting slots an eternity of trying to line up four screws with those tiny holes. Super annoying lack of thought/design-effort in a reasonably important feature in what should be a high-end item. There are other strips that have easy mounting features, but none that are UL/ETL rated, have metal cases, or have surge protection -- for some reason power strips sans surge protection are often made to be easily mounted. Come on, Belkin, 15 more cents in manufacturing costs could save your customers a lot of cursing and make your products more useful on a practical level. 3When you're serious about your power bars, get this one. This is a serious power bar! It's built to last a lifetime, very high quality, great surge protection and no downside at all as best I can tell. I've used a wide variety of power bars during my life, but I consider this to be the best I have ever purchased. Very pleased, highly recommended to others. 5If you haven't bought this yet, I do recommend! Belkin 10-Outlet Metal Power Strip Surge Protector with 15-Foot Power Cord, 885 Joules (F9D1000-15)Whomever invented this design needs to be slapped in the face! IT WORKS AMAZINGLY!! Plug in regular plugs, those nasty transformers that will take up 2 outlets on a regular power strip, only takes on on this one. The spacing of the outlets is genius, and in addition to that, it's built real well. You can pick it up, knock someone out with it, and there wont be a dent in sight. 5Take a beating and keep on going I've purchased a couple dozen of these for use in day to day audio/visual rental industry. In that work, they take a beating, constantly be packed, unpacked, and installed and uninstalled in large A/V jobs. I've never had one fail in this "tough line of work". The metal casing holds up much better than plastic, and the 10 outlets make plugging in a lot of devices easy - therefore reducing the need for more power strips on a typical installation. The spacing of the outlets is perfect for accommodating all the electronics that we use that is powered by "wall warts". And the long heavy duty 15 foot cord is just right for reaching the nearest power outlet without getting extension cords. I'd highly recommend these for tough field applications. 5Just okay outlets are all oriented the same direction, so you can only use one row for adapters. Wouldn't it make better sense to put them opposite facing? Totally pointless as this was to serve as a power center for behind my media center PC with about 8 adapters for various things, cable modem, router, speakers, external hard drives, computer, monitor, etc. Many competitors have opposite facing outlets on theirs... 2
