Very Dissatisfied with this Purchase!What a waste of money! I thought something was wrong with my photo printer, but after reading some of the reviews, I realized that the problem is the inferior quality of the card stock. The printed colors are very muted, and I had to use a paper cutter to get a sharp edge because the cards wouldn't separate completely. I'm very dissatisfied and disappointed in Avery trying to cut corners and save money by having the card stock made in Mexico. There is no comparison to the quality of the original note cards that were made in the USA.1Paper that can not print blacks or colors properlyI send and share my photography on notecards. These note cards made in Mexico print photos that are faded and muted. Compared to previous note cards there is a huge reduction in quality. I tried changing my ink, checking nozzles, a new printer, changing my color settings and nothing really fixes the problem. The fact that this paper can not reproduce colors as they are on your computer screen means that this paper is worthless as photo notecards. Do not buy it if you are printing photography note cards. The closest I came to fixing it was using Adobe to set the colors based on color calibration of my monitor combined with increasing brightness and contrast of the images to print. I will not be buying Avery notecard paper in the future because our photographs deserve true blacks and true colors.1the Avery matte note cards have a nice surface and feel As others have noted, the Avery matte note cards have a nice surface and feel. That said, two things you need to be aware of. First, the thickness of the cards is such that the typical desktop Epson, HP and Canon printers, even the so called Pro versions, will often have a difficult time reliably feeding the cards. I've found that clicking on print with the hope of walking away and letting the printer spit 15-20 cards won't happen without at least a couple of interventions to manually assist feeds or hit the resume button on the printer (a Canon Pro-100 in my case).The second issue is Amazon packaging. I've had multiple shipments where the Avery packs have been packed tightly in a carton that invariably gets dropped on the corners during shipment and the shock transmits through to the Avery cards, wrinkling the corners, resulting in damaged appearance, and a card that won't feed through the printer without the printhead hitting the wrinkled area, leaving ink marks. WELL-PACKED is often not part of the shipping crews lexicon at Amazon! Five stars for the product, three stars for Amazon packaging--at best. 3I really liked these cards I really liked these cards. The quality and thickness of the paper was great. I also appreciated that the envelopes were nice as well. The color isn't exactly white, just off-white, almost cream colored. While the cards are separated by very small perforations, you probably wouldn't even notice unless you were looking for them. One tip I have though, fold the perforations in both directions before pulling them apart. I had a one or two cards where the edges didn't rip on the perforated cuts. Keep in mind the cards are textured. I would recommend these cards. They would make great thank you notes. 4Perhaps an anomaly, but uselessThis is the first Avery product I have found deficient of the many I have used. There are two cards per sheet and the sheets are scored in order to separate the cards. That works fine. But the cards are also meant to fold on a line, and that line is a half inch out of place so the edges when the card folds do not meet. You wouldn't want to use the card that way of course, but if you did you would find it would not fit into the envelope.In other ways the quality was typical of Avery. The cards printed well; no bleeding or over absorbtion of ink. The envelopes were all right, though not especially high quality. I'd be perfectly satisfied if the cards would fold properly, but they don't and I'm not.1Poor finish, dull colors, bad perforationThese were extremely poor quality. I ordered business card sheets at the same time and the finish and perforation on those was drastically different. My prints came out vibrant and sharp. The edges were clean. On these notecards, however, the colors were dull and muted and the perforated edge was ragged. As other reviews noted, these are labeled "Made in Mexico" and of very poor quality compared to the Avery products I've bought in the past.1Great & Cost Effective I bought these to make my 'Thank You' cards for my bridal shower. These are super easy to use. You print two cards per sheet. Each sheet is perforated in the middle making them easy to separate. This is a great and cost effective way to print your own personalized cards. I highly recommend this product and I will be using them again in the future. 5Drastic change in quality!!!!!I have been using this product for many years to create note cards of my photographs for family and friends. However, my latest batch of these cards were noticeably inferior - the colors came out considerably more muted and the cards did not fold well. Looking at the back of the package, the recent purchase had a Made in Mexico sticker on it, as opposed to Product of Germany that was on the older one. Perhaps the papers are different, but there is a drastic reduction in quality. I sent a note to Avery - hopefully they will provide some feedback.**Update 3/3/19** I have been in contact with Avery and they have been quite helpful and informed me that they will look into this issue. They had sent me two replacement packages of note cards. Unfortunately, they have the 'Made in Mexico' sticker on them, so I am not optimistic about their quality as opposed to the cards that were from Germany.**Update 3/28/19** I just tried the set that Avery sent me and unfortunately they exhibit the same poor quality as my other cards that are stamped 'Made in Mexico'. Time to look for another paper.**Update 7/29/19** As I make my way through the last batch of complimentary cards, thought I might share what has helped me with printing. In your photo editing program, bump up the brightness, saturation, and contrast to the point that it looks way overdone. When printed, the results (for me) have been better. I still plan on seeking out other papers when my current batch is gone, but this has made the cards somewhat salvageable. Hope this helps!2The cards "made in Mexico" do not meet Avery's usual high quality.This was my second purchase of matte white note cards having a "Made in Mexico" label on the box. They are inferior to those I have purchased in the past which were designated as a "product of Germany". The card stock is not the usual bright white, and the inkjet printed colors are dull. There appears to be a quality control issue which Avery should deal with as soon as possible.1Excellent product for printing note cards i do watercolors and i photograph my artwork and put in a file for avery note cards so that i can print them out. the note cards are sturdy and well made with a very nice finish on them. the ink takes to the paper very well and the images are crisp and defined. the note cards fold in half and i can print my images so that the cards either open bottom to top...or right to left. very pleased and have been using this product for a long time without any problems. i would advise printing in black and white (so as not to waste the ink) on a test sheet to make sure that you have placed the photo that you want printed on the correct side of the notecard. otherwise, you might find that you have printed on the back of the card instead of the front. the paper has room for two note cards and you have to make sure that they print correctly. great product! 5Terrible print quality!! Buyer beware! Not the cardstock you've had in the past!Finished a box of Avery 8315 notecards which were great, so I ordered more. From the moment I started printing, I thought I was losing my mind. In fact, I went so far as to assume my printer was on the fritz and spent half a week shopping for a new printer. The 6 cartridges of ink for my Epson Artisan 1430 printer cost me $140, so I was really getting ticked off that I couldn't get the printer to print right. I even called Epson to see what the problem was and was assured that the matt finish is on both sides of the paper. At last, I ran a couple of prints through the printer and they printed great, so that confirmed the problem is the cardstock. You can see the bright chalky white of the goodstock and the yellow regular cardstock they are trying to pass as quality paper! The box is different, but that wasn't enough to alarm me, I thought it was just a packaging change by Avery. The bad box says it's "made in Mexico" and the good box (shown on the right) saying "Made in the US". All signs point to cheap crap that will waste your expensive ink. I went from high quality impressive images, good enough to frame, to regular cheap cardstock. Losing $14.95 for the box of notecards is nothing compared to the amount of Ink I've wasted! I want it all replaced!1They are great! Here are some of my observationsI just received my note card pack yesterday and immediately printed some of them. They are great! Here are some of my observations, prompted from other reviews: (1) PAPER COATING: there is indeed a side of the paper that's coated--says so on the back of the pkg--and it's slightly whiter and smoother than the other side. (2) PERFORATIONS: when I first saw the sheet, I was expecting to see it "quartered off" by perforations and a fold line. Not. The line you see on there is where you'll separate the two cards and it may be perforated but it's not obvious, even when held to the light. I chose to use a paper cutter along that line for a clean cut. There is a fold line for the card itself but, again, it's not obvious. if you SLIGHTLY bend the paper in half, perpendicular to the obvious line, you'll see a line appear. (3) TEMPLATE: The template was already in my Microsoft Word. Open a blank document, choose "Mailings" then "Labels". When the next window comes up, click on "Options" and then select "Avery 8315 Note Cards." Then click on "New Document" and voila the template comes up. If you want to add text on the back of the card, I found it easier to place the picture and rotate it rather than try to figure out how to rotate the text. (4) PRINTING: Avery suggests using printer setting "Best" and "Cardstock" or "Heavy Paper." My Canon printers do not have those paper selections so I used "Matte Photo Paper" (remember to print on the coated side of the paper) and "Standard" and got excellent results (and saved some ink). If I were printing a picture that I wanted to archive, I would choose "Best." Ideally, allow the paper to dry for several hours--out of direct sunlight--before cutting and folding. I hope those tips help!5Excellent valueI'm using these to make note cards with a matte inkjet-printed photo on one of the four panels of the folded card and some printed text on a different panel. You get 60 sheets of 8.5 x 11 card stock that are perforated to make 120 note cards which you separate after running through an inkjet printer, making two copies of each card. Avery gives a website for software you can use online or by download, but I haven't tried this software. I use Word 2010 and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 instead. (If you need help with the Word or Lightroom settings to do this, post a comment asking and if I see it, I'll post the instructions.) Each folded note card measures 4.25 x 5.50 inches. You also get 120 envelopes. The quality of the cardstock is very good. At the current amazon price, they're an excellent value, so I'm rounding up to 5 stars for that.One side of the card stock is coated matte paper--it's NOT coated glossy--it's coated matte--making the coated matte side more appropriate than the plain side of the card stock for printing a photo. Most pens will write on either the coated or the uncoated side. The difference is subtle, but brush both sides of the blank cardstock with a clean finger, and you probably will agree: one side is very slightly smoother, and that's the coated side which should be used for photo printing if any. If you're still not sure which side is coated, moisten a finger and touch each side in one corner; the tackier side is the coated side. Set your printer to matte photo paper and high quality photo if you can, for best results. You can print borderless photos on these *if* your printer and software allow this setting (many inkjet printers do *not*), however you may have to use a paper trimmer to clean up the photo on one edge as it may bleed through to the other note card, so a small white border may enable you to avoid using a trimmer and work better for you. To get a clean break, carefully crease along the perforation in both directions before pulling apart.5These are just awful. Not the same product as the one they USED TO sell!I had a box of these note cards with a card showing an "RY" on the front of the box. I've had it for a couple of years. I just finished it off and ordered what I thought was the same product. I was shocked by the difference. The "classic" product was a heavier weight paper with a deeper texture that literally snapped apart with one bend. The cards folded neatly and easier along a detente. As others here have noted in their reviews, the "new" product must be refolded several times and carefully torn to separate the halves, leaving a ragged edge. The fold detente is nearly nonexistent, resulting in a jagged and uneven clumsy fold. The paper is lighter weight and only lightly textured than it's predecessor. Shame on Avery for cheaping out. I might as well buy textured watercolor paper and make my own cards.1Gets the Job Done I purchased this Note Card/Envelope set to print my own college graduation announcements created in Photoshop. The stock is not as heavy as I'd imagined, and a bit translucent, but still has an impressive matte texture.For those who are confused about the 4.25 x 5.5 in. dimension for each card, the entire sheet (2 cards per sheet) is the same size as a standard 8.5 x 11 in. sheet of copy paper. Split that into half as markers in Photoshop, and you'll easily be able to center and format media on each side. What's also great about this format is you can print drafts on standard copy paper BEFORE using this product.This stock handles black/grey scale just fine at 300 DPI, but requires much more ink to properly handle colors (due to the texture). The paper is also pre-perforated to separate both cards on the sheet, but I don't recommend using it. You'll most likely rip the card incorrectly, its pretty delicate. Use an actual paper cutter instead, and take your time.Overall, it's a good product. 4
