Decent, does what its supposed to First, this works with Windows 10. I just finished building a new PC and I chose this Wireless card based on numerous reviews. One key thing to note, this wireless card is NOT plug and play. If you built a custom PC with no CD drive, you will NEED an internet connection to download and install the drivers from the ASUS website before your computer will recognize this card. If you have the CD, then just put it in and follow the steps. 4 stars because I am not blown away by the connection speed. I have read that the ASUS drivers slow the card down and that installing drivers for a different card with a similar chipset actually gets better performance so I will try that soon. Decent card, nothing to write home about. 4Much more effective than I had hoped For a moderate gamer whose computer sits a floor above her router and cannot afford to mar her home with a 150-ft ethernet cable, this thing is something of a godsend. I mainly wanted a strong adapter since my wi-fi suffers from terrible ping spikes. This puppy only decreased my ping from 22 ms to 17 ms and increased my upload speed by less than 2 Mbps. However, my download speed went from 9.63 Mbps to 68.03 Mbps. My father was amazed when he saw this improvement: "that's practically the maximum speed for what we bought."Installation is quite straightforward. As other reviewers have said, just install the drivers from the main website before physically installing this card. I didn't bother using the packaged CD since the drivers on it were outdated. I like that the antenna stand is magnetized; putting the stand onto my case rather than having it take up space on my desk is wonderful. This pup is pricey, but it does its job for sure. 5Good speed, bad connection (PCI model) Edit: leaving this review as is because of days of headache, but bumping up to two stars because it actually works for me now and I don't know what I did that fixed it -- seemed to most likely be a mixture of changing drivers when I moved it to one of my pcix16 slots causing all the problems to more or less disappear, but it still drops connection once in a while. Currently running on the newest drivers found through windows update.Recently bought this card because I am currently forced into a situation where I can't use my preferred Powerline (as opposed to wifi or directly connecting into the router) due to my hosts "not trusting the house's old wiring". At first, I was happy as a clam with this card -- it looks stylish and got me amazing speed -- even faster than most times I've used Powerline! Great!...well, for the first 10 minutes.This card has a nasty habit of disconnecting you from your wifi every 10 minutes, and not reconnecting you. In fact, every time it disconnects, it forgets that you told it to connect automatically.I spent 7 hours last night trying every troubleshooting option I knew of or could find online, from BIOS options to turning on PCI lock to every ASUS branded driver and even Broadcom's generic drivers, all sorts of settings and restarts and reseating the card, putting it in different PCI slots (even tried it in my 2 free x16 slots), wiggling it to see if it's seated improperly in each, basically every tiny thing I could think of.At worst, either the card or drivers caused my computer not to boot to post. At best, I get 10-15 minutes of time online before having to restart the computer or else it simply doesn't connect again.Currently using PDANet+ to route the connection through my phone and to my computer in usb to fill in the gaps in connection. Every 5-10 minutes this card will drop connection and reconnect for 5 minutes 30 minutes later as of time of writing -- I know when it's active because my phone only gets ~25/5Mbps through to my computer and this card gets around 85/11 through... When it's working, that is. Sometimes it seems to disconnect my keyboard, but I don't know if it's this card it my keyboard going up or something.Quite annoyed because I'm going on 2 weeks without being able to play games with friends (finally got wifi back in the house yesterday) and needing to work around something that should just *work* being from such a well-regarded company is mind-boggling to me. If I can't get it working in the next 2 days I'm going to have to RMA this card, and if I can't get *that* working before Amazon's return window closes, well, you know what comes next.Save your money and headache, buy something else. I hear the TP-Link Archer T9E is good. I'll be trying that one next.I'll update this if / when I can get it fixed, whether through my own trial and error or through Asus -- maybe they will accept an RMA and the one I got was just defective we'll see.P.S. apparently these cards are known for having issues with the Fall Creator's Update for Windows (1703 iirc) and any of the Asus branded 7.xxx.xxx.xxx drivers will cause a bsod if the computer is left on for any significant amount of time -- the Broadcom and 6.xxx.xxx.xxx drivers don't seem to have this problem. Found out about this many times through my troubleshooting adventure. On the Asus website for the drivers, the version you want to download is the 2.0.8.8 one, the one at the very bottom after you expand the list of available downloads. 2Computer Froze Once, Now Works Great Install of the card was easy. You'll notice the antennas/wires don't have labels for the three slots they get attached to. It doesn't matter which one they go in.I fired up the PC, ran the autorun.exe from the CD, it got through most of the install but then my PC (Windows 10) froze on a "please wait" icon. I had to do a hard restart. While I was doing research into possible causes, I tried to install the drivers from the disk a second time. It worked.You'll also notice it wants to install an executable from PRINTING COMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATES. I thought this was kind of weird as it made no mention of ASUS and I've never heard of it. I did a little digging to find that it's a driver/utility software for managing your connection. I chose to install it, but I can't say for sure it was necessary.I pay Verizon for a 150Mbps connection, and my speeds are attache (154 down, 159 up). Antennas are probably 40 feet from the router, through one kitchen wall.Hope this helps. 5but it really annoying for a product of this price/quality "Edit: Product bought: ASUS Dual-Band Wireless-AC1900 PCI-E Adapter (PCE-AC68)"Setup: Win 10, Netgear R7000P-100NAS router. PC is 1 room over from router, separated by a drywall wall w/ no door.Results: Signal -58 dbm, Avg Speed: 877.5 Mbps"EDIT: I just realized all the reviews on this page are a mix of different models" Not sure what everyone is talking about with the driver issues. I run Windows 10 64-bit and found it to be completely straight forward. Contrary to several comments, Windows did not already have a driver for the card. However I simply popped in the provided CD and installed the ASUS WLAN Control Center/drivers. Windows immediately picked up the card and started looking for open networks. The control center had a very user friendly GUI that allows you to view available SSID's and also monitors your current connection in real-time. (It does eat up a small chunk of RAM while doing this, but there's no need to leave it running once setup). My only complaint, which in the grand scheme of things is minor I know, but it really annoying for a product of this price/quality, is that it didn't come with a retention screw for the card! I guess they figure most people have one holding in the empty slot cover, but my case uses snap-in slot covers, so I did not. None of my loose screws in the toolbox fit either, so my card is currently being held in place by a bread bag twisty! Funny... till it comes loose from a tug on external antenna cables and the card pops out and lands on my GPU... 4Asus Support is Horrible and This Device will Not work with Latest Win 10 fall update. Wish I could give Zero stars on this item.. After windows 10 fall update in February 2018 this device is useless. Microsoft says wait for Asus to come up with a fix for the driver. Asus says wait for Microsoft to come up with an update to their OS to fix. In the meantime I have a paperweight sitting on the top of of my desktop and forced to use another brand. I'm done with Asus. 1Best wireless adapter I've found I have a 125 Mbps internet connection, as measured on a computer with a wired connection to the router. Remarkably, with this adapter, I was able to achieve 100% the same speed over a wireless connection, when located in a bedroom upstairs and across the house from the router. Lesser adapters have never done better than 1/3 the speed, e.g. 40 Mbps was the best that the TP-Link AC1900 Wireless Dual Band PCI-Express Adapter with Beamforming Technology (Archer T9E) could do, though that was itself a big improvement over other adapters I've tried. I suspect that the ability to select the best location for the Asus' antenna array has a lot to do with its impressive speed and stability. Problem solved for a tough location, saved me $600 over what it would have cost me to get an electrician to run wired Ethernet. 5Fast, Quiet, Should have got it sooner! I didn't buy this card because I read reviews saying it was loud, it's dead silent (there is a light). I have an Asus motherboard, my internet was ALWAYS losing connection. After getting the card, no problems, always connected now.Windows 10, FOLLOW THE (SIMPLE) DIRECTIONS. Don't do what I did; I downloaded the drivers, then installed the card, it worked but really slow then my computer crapped out in about 5 minutes. I stated in safe mode, removed the driver, then restarted my PC and used the CD and followed the easy directions. Works perfect, follow the simple instructions. Really, don't over think this. This is a 10-minute install.After install, my speeds went above what I pay for. I did multiple tests before and after installing the card, my gameplay is WAY better. The last two weeks I have no problems, no noise, no reconnecting. Easy peasy! You got this!! 5Using in 2009 Mac Pro running Sierra This review is *only* for the product in a 2009 Mac Pro running MacOS Sierra 10.12.2My only regret is that I didnt buy this card sooner. It could have saved hours of upload and transfer times vs the 802.11 G(and possibly N? Can't remember) Airport card built into the Mac Pro. Make no mistake, I'm amazed the old Broadcom card worked as well as it did, given its age and the fact that It was traversing three solid floors and spanning through multiple rooms laterally in an old stone house. But the old Broadcom had noticeable latency on requests..... everything was just a little slow.The final nail in the coffin was being forced to upgrade the Mac Pro to Sierra in order to support software I use for editing. Obviously Apple intentionally broke support for the 2009 Mac Pro for no good reason, even though it functions 100% flawlessly on Sierra.... other than the wireless network stack. In order to stick it to anyone wanting to run Sierra, Apple omitted the drivers for the old Broadcom wireless chips from their wireless network stack, so once you upgrade, you're either stuck with no internet, or a physical run....Running ethernet to the Asus (RT-AC68U) in this old house was not a possibility due to costs of snaking a cable through the walls (none of which line up) so a new wireless card was, erm, in the cards....From the time the package was dropped off to the time the MP was back up and running was well less than 10 minutes, and the adapter worked immediately, with no additional drivers or fiddling on my end. Into the 4x PCIE slot, plugged in the antennas, and powered away we go.The latency has been crushed with a hammer, response times and page loads are immediate, and the speed is as good as taking my laptop and sitting next to the router. Only, this box is doing it from three floors away.See attached screenshot for reference. Paying for symmetric 50/50 FiOS (havent bothered calling them to upgrade free to 100/100) the upload speed happens to be higher just because Verizon overprovisions connections to account for network congestion and distances to their primary interconnects. Upload speeds are consistently at or above 60 Mbps, and DL is consistently in the mid 50s.Completely impressed. Im sure if I ran a LAN test this thing would pull its rated speeds computer to computer, based on its WAN performance. 5PCE-AC68 Is pretty awsome So I prefer to hardline, but due to cable management, I decided to go with wifi. I used to use the Asus USB-N53 (but that was garbage) and lacked windows 10 support. The PCE-AC68 SUPPORTS windows 10, there are windows 10 drivers included on the CD that was in the box, and they are also on Asus website for the PCE-AC68. Set up was standard, I checked out the included CD and instructions but I then decided to go directly to Asus website for the latest drivers. I installed them shut down the PC, popped in the card, hooked up the antenna and bam. Done. I then went to google for some speed tests. The 2.4ghz channel did much better for the PCE-AC68, the 5ghz channel did about the same in terms of up, but the connection was super reliable (I've included some screenshots of all tests) There are no noticeable dips in connection or lag while gaming and download speeds stay consistent. The heat sink does seem to help, while on my USB adapter after a few videos or an hour of gaming would drop in performance quickly.The material feels solid, but the card has a slight curve to it, you can see this in my screenshots. Also, there is a very bright blue LED on the back. The cord for the antenna is about a meter long (I didn't measure this is a rough estimate)I'm only about 40feet away from my router, so im not sure how this will fare at a farther distance.Overall, it's a solid connection, no noticeable dips while gaming, streaming, or downloading and was quick and easy to set up. 5
