    Exactly what I needed This is a great recessed box to add a plug and allow for additional wires to pass up to your TV, if you're planning on mounting your TV to the wall. Works perfect in a 2x4 studded wall. It's a little more challenging if the wall is insulated but I have hung 4 TV's using this box and all of them except one were interior walls without insulation. Looks very professional once its installed. I typically install an outlet with a surge protector integrated into it ( you can get that on Amazon as well, highly recommend one of those) to protect the TV. Thanks. 5Mfgr specs & pics missing from the Amazon description This is my new favorite TV install item! Easy to install, large, and works great! Deep enough for a small AC adapter or two.Electrical code (& common sense) requires high voltage wiring be physically separated from low voltage wiring. Amazon's pics don't show it installed, but BE SURE TO USE THE (supplied) SEPERATOR if you'll be using 3 low-voltage plates + an AC power outlet. (Not needed if using 2 AC power outlets + 1-2 low voltage plates.) See add'l pic, captured from the mfgr's spec sheet.Also attached is the mfg's diagram, including exact measurements. 5Arlington Industries TVBS505 2-Gang Steel TV Electrical Box's Are Great! I ordered 4 of these Arlington Industries TVBS505 2-Gang Steel TV Electrical Boxes via Amazon Prime and received them 2 days later as usual.I needed steel electrical boxes for a firewall between my living room and garage. I was replacing external conduit running 12/2 wire on a 20 amp breaker with new 12/2 wiring through the wall. The standard steel electrical boxes at the local hardware store are usually good enough, about the same cubic space inside for the actual wire except those don't have a recess which I wanted since I'll be installing hanging utility shelving in front of them. I also needed to install two of them side by side between one stud (one on the garage side, one on the living room side), and they fit with plenty of space left. The depth is also perfect, they push in and almost touch the back, but not quite. I love the easy 45 degree stud screw guides, and the screw adjustments for old construction, I used both.Installing one took less than 10 minutes from: switching the breaker off, testing the wire, tracing the outline, sawing the hole, pushing wire through, clamping the wire in place, wiring the receptacle, and screwing the plates on. One thing to watch out for is obviously screwing the box to the stud. One thing to note, make sure you're not screwing it where wires may be running through the stud. I installed my 4 boxes as such: one has 2 duplex receptacles, another has 1 duplex receptacle and one blank, the next has a receptacle and a low voltage RJ45 CAT 6a, and the last has a duplex receptacle and low voltage RJ45 Cat 6a with 2 RG6.These are a bit more expensive than the simple boxes at the local hardware store, but the recess make it worth it for me. I even bought a plastic 3 gang recessed electrical box for a non-firewall. These were simple to install and fit perfectly in 2x4 (1.5x3.5) framing with 5/8 inch sheetrock which makes up my garage walls. I believe they'd be fine with 1/2 inch sheet rock on 2x4 framing as well since I have a little space behind them with the 5/8 inch sheetrock. Once I purchase new wall plates for them I'll take pictures to post here. It comes with a 2 gang plate with 2 decorative cutouts, but my receptacles are standard duplex (not decorative). I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a recessed socket, switch, media electrical box, etc. 5Decent Product *** NOT A PAID REVIEW ***Bottom Line: Nice Product for DIYThis is a review of several products in one (Arlington Recessed Outlet Wall Plate Kit ($13), Leviton QuickPort Decora Insert ($5), Leviton QuickPort Cat 5e Jack ($3), Leviton QuickPort F-Type Adapter ($5), Leviton 15 Amp, 125 V Duplex Receptacle ($7), and RiteAV Coax/Cat6 Wall Plate ($14)) to save some time while still providing feedback for anyone interested in buying these items. I purchased these items to customize my home entertainment center (basically hide unsightly cords/tripping hazards). I liked the recessed option so that I keep the tv as close to the wall as possible without damaging the cords. The other items in the list (as previously noted) fit nicely into the box but were not necessarily specifically needed. The items arrived within 2-3 days of purchase as expected for prime members. All items were prepackaged and new/unopened. As you can see in the pictures, everything fit nicely together and looked clean once installed and in use. My only gripe would be the price for plastic components but I would still recommend it and would do it again.Cons:- expensive for plastic componentsPros:- fits nicely- easy install- makes for clean setup 4Great box for media hookups This is a great box. I installed directly to a stud using the included screws, but I love the option for old work as well. I haven't seen it with drywall or anything yet, but it's a fairly clean and attractive box. I needed these to route my entertainment units through the wall to another TV, and I'm very happy so far.One issue I had was installing the outlet or media hookup plates. The screws that come attached to the outlet were too long. It's a standard Decora outlet I bought from Lowe's, you would imagine this box would be compatible with such a commonplace unit. I used some shorter screws from other wall plates I won't be using. Because of this I'll take off a star.Overall this box is easy to install and works great for in wall cable management and also keeping your plugs from sticking out of the wall and being in the way. 4Worked like a charm with one minor annoyance. I used this box with a recent home theater upgrade I performed. With the Mantle Mount I purchased to hold the TV, I was able to install this box sideways within the mounting bracket, with a very minor filing of the edges of the face frame on two sides. This way, it should be virtually invisible in use. My only small complaint about the box is that it came with the plastic "Romex" clamp already installed in one of the two electrical box knockouts. I needed to move it to the other side for my installation, and found that there was no knock out plug supplied in the kit. My previous purchases of larger Arlington boxes have come with the plastic plug needed to keep the installation code compliant. I was able to substitute a metal knockout plug, but I feel it should have been supplied or the clamp should not have been pre-installed, such that I needed to plug a hole in the first place. To be fair, it could be that the plug was just left out of the package by mistake. Regardless, I would definitely buy this box again, given how perfectly it suited my installation. 4Be prepared to drive to the hardware store! I love the idea of this box, and it's built well enough except for one thing. The screws that are provided with each keystone gang and that are intended to secure those gangs the box are of very low quality. The holes provided in the box for these screws into threaded. It's just a DEEP plastic hole for a rather long screw, and the heads of the screws are so badly slotted and soft, that when you try to screw them into the box, they get so tight at about half way that the screw heads strip out and the screwdriver can no longer tun them. Plus, they are then so tight in the hole, that I had to use pliers to unscrew them from the box. I had to go to Home Depot and buy some small decent screws to attach them! I'm a 72 year old who has worked in electronics for most of my life. Great product with no attention to detail, or any concern as to what the end user will experience. What a shame! 4super duper! This box is great!. Finished dimensions 6.69"V X 6.00"H X 3.75"D. Cut-in hole 6.00"V X 5.25"H. Wings can take 0.25" through 1.50" wall thickness. Trim plate stands .125" out of the wall. The GFCI's face is countersunk 1.25" into the box. The box is 18 cubic inches with a "black button" in the bottom K.O. and a spare K.O. in the top; both are countersunk to take NM connectors or Tomics. If you pull off the trim ring (4 screws), the box is it's own template ... a nice rectangle. The 2-gang cover comes with the box. They include a few long screws for rough-in, or cutting in next to a stud. Good, rigid plastic. Full gloss, black plastic with fine "bead blasted" texturing. I haven't even installed the box yet, but I'm already impressed. To the designer of this product: come on over some time, I owe you a steak and a beer. 5Great item. I've had good luck with their smaller ... Great item. I've had good luck with their smaller unit. In addition to other customers "lessons", one thing to note is that if you are mounting this using modular low-voltage keystones, you need to buy everything in the shortest right-angle configurations you can. The line voltage box side works great like a standard recessed box, but the LV side is almost recessed half the depth of standard 2x4 construction. This is by design and not a knock against the product. Just be ready to get creative, depending on your application.I'm running quite a bit through one of these. 3xHDMI, Component/standard AV, SPDIF, 2xCAT6,1 coax. The 110v quad will let me get rid of a "surge protector" that was running through a single outlet. 5The best HV/LV combo post-construction box I've ever used. I've installed a lot of post-construction mud rings and boxes for low voltage integrations. This is by far the best HV/LV box I've ever used. It's not well illustrated on the product page, but it comes with 2 screws that hold it to the adjacent stud, and 4 tabs that in conjunction with the trim ring hold it securely to the drywall. I especially like the removable trim ring, as you can install the box and both high and low voltage components and THEN paint the wall. Installing the trim ring then covers the perimeter of the box for a nice, presentable appearance. The only possible disadvantage to this unit is that it has to be installed adjacent to a stud. So if you need to locate your box between studs (Drywall attachment only) this isn't the box for you. 5
