Customer Reviews

LEAKS EVERY TIME FILTERS CHANGED. Every time we change the filters the entire thing leaks. We have been about to stop the leaking three times. Now the 4th time we have replaced the filters there is nothing we can do to stop the leaking. What a waste of $200 plus. HORRIBLE product. 1TWO IMPORTANT THINGS This is a great filtration system, but note these two important things:1. The thing will leak, eventually. It was two years for us, and it will happen to you because the seals in the housing (manifold) fail. It was a small drip that had probably been leaking for 8-10 hours. It took two beach towels to clean it up.2. Aquasana will send you a new housing for free (you pay $4.99 shipping, or not if you're a good negotiator) if you are getting your filters from them directly. It is, essentially, a "forever" warranty that comes with having the filters sent every 6 months. Learn from us and DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A FILTER SUBSCRIPTION THROUGH AMAZON. This is not Aquasana's program, so you will not qualify for the "forever" warranty when you call them with a problem. 4Warning! Do NOT BUY!! This has flooded my kitchen twice now. First time I contacted Aquasana and they said I needed replacement filters, I replaced them for a pretty penny, then 3 less than three months later, my son woke me up in the middle of the night - noone had even been running the water - to tell me the kitchen was flooded again. water was spraying out of the unit. it warped my floor and ruined my cabinet. I had to take the whole unit out of the house. I have contacted aquasana to refund my recent purchase of filters, but I think I should also get a refund for the unit. I would not purchase this item!!!! 1No replacement O-Rings Available!!! Provides excellent great tasting water. However, you might as well plan on about a 2-3 year life span for this product. The problem is with the o-rings. They will fail after about 2-3 years and leak profusely. This is just a fact of life with o-rings. However, I contacted the manufacturer and they do not offer replacement o-rings. They did, however, offer their condolences and said that if I had only paid for a filter subscription, they could have sent me new canisters with new o-rings. The o-rings and canisters cannot be purchased separately. Other manufacturers sell o-rings for approximately $5 to $8 per set. If I were you, I would purchase another brand. 2Best i've tried to date Having used several under sink water filter systems in the past (6) to date, I got little knack for installing these things.I had two that leaked a lot and water damage is not fun. I read the reviews on the 3 stage Aquasana and then called the company to get more infor and also ask about parts. They were more than willing to help me with my install, which was going to be totally different than all my other systems.I wanted to drop down under the kitchen sink to my dry basement with a drain, and install the system there and run the tubing up through the sink cabinet and to the faucet. They said we can send you another 8' of tubing free. The photos pretty much are the install. A picture is really worth a thousand words.FIRST.....install the faucet and BE SURE to fit the faucet with the tubing FIRST and drop the tubing down your sink hole that you will be mounting the faucet......this saves a lot of time and scraped knuckles under the sink. All you do next is slide the washers and nuts onto the tubing and tighten the ONE nut to your sink....that part is now done. Next find where you will be mounting your unit, put the two screws into the wall on a stud if possible or use wall fastners if no stud. Then put on the filters, the screw a quarter turn and lock, to take them off screw a quarter turn and they drop down. Now the hardest part took me all of 30 mins to install. From my 1/2" copper pipe, I used a shark bite connector and installed a shut off valve (30 seconds) came off that valve with the 3/8th tubing to the inlet marked "IN" on the filter side plate. Simply push the tubing into the hole until it seats or snaps in. That side is now done. On the other side (outlet side) you are given 1/4" tubing. don't know why it could not all be the same size, guess it has something to do with the fittings on the faucet. Push in the 1/4" tubing the same way as the inlet side. ....and you're done, turn on the water and check for leaks. if none let it run for 30 minutes and it's ready to use. I've had mine for about 4 months and no leaks and it works as I wanted it to...from the basement to the sink right above it. Shown are the shutoff valve, battery warning compartment, the 1/2" tubing for the inlet side, the 1/4" tubing coming out of the exit side and be sure to loop your tubing so the flow is not kinked. You can get a radiu8s stabilizer to put the tubing in at the loop and screw it to the wall for "no flapping" when the water is turned on. 5Installation was fairly easy and the product worked more or less as advertized We purchased this in filter in July 2015. Installation was fairly easy and the product worked more or less as advertized. We have been regularly changing filters per the prescribed frequency. Now in Sep 2017, we saw water flowing from under the sink. When we looked under the sink, we found that the source of the leak was the water filter. We found that the the bottom of one of the cartridges that hold the filter (To be precise, the Sediment pre-filter cartridges, the black one) simply broke and dropped down allowing all the water to drain out of the water filter. Needless to say, we do not expect an expensive water filter like this to break and leak after a mere 2 years. Moreover, the point of failure was even more disappointing - the bottom of the cartridge just fell out and caused a minor flood under the sink and the island cabinets in the kitchen. I am certainly expecting Aquasana customer service to reach out to us explain why this would happen! In the meantime, avoid! 2Does NOT deliver rated 0.50 gpm flow rate. Under-designed. I can confirm reviewer of 07/20/17 -- SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. I installed AQ-5300 3-Stg. filter unit myself (BS & MS degrees in Mechanical Eng. w/ 40 yrs. experience), and noticed immediately the very slow flow rate. I measured and determined actual flow was 0.25 gpm w/ 55 psig supply pressure. Unit rated at 0.50 gpm at 20 psig inlet pressure. Called tech. support at Aquasana, and was sent three new top housings (what filters screw into) + new first filter. I installed these items, along w/ new larger faucet, and flow rate increased from 0.25 to 0.33 gpm. Still 35% below rated capacity w/ over twice the inlet pressure. I asked Aquasana tech. guy if their AQ-5300+ filter unit was designed due to complaints about low flow from AQ-5300. He replied "YES". All Aquasana did was increase the flow area of AQ-5300+ filters by 44% -- by increasing their filter height by 44%. I strongly suspect AQ over-rates their under-counter filter units. Very dis-satified w/ product & would NOT RECOMMEND. If you insist on AQ unit & do not want to be wasting time standing at sink filling bottles or pots, but one for twice it's rated flow capacity. Maybe then you'll get expected flow! Water quality of AQ-5300 unit is same as bottled water i have been buying; same taste. Have had unit in use for only two (2) weeks. 1Faulty Built - It Breaks I really like the quality of water out of this unit. I have been happy with it since I bought it. However, the filter casings broke(busted) two times since then. I installed it in the cabinet under my kitchen sink and the filter casings broke two times. The first time it happened when I was on vacation. I came back home to an almost flooded basement, I was lucky that I have turned the main water off before leaving the house otherwise I can not imagine what would have happened to my basement. The water I found in the basement was the result of water that was already in the pipes. The second time it happened when I was home and I started hearing pissing sound from my kitchen when I looked for the source of the sound I found that it has happened again. I was lucky this time too since I was home and I caught it within minutes of happening. The first time it was still under one year so it was covered by the warranty. I called them and they sent me new filter casing for the broken one. Anyways, I am not gonna wait for the third time because you never know when it is going to happen. If you love your home and you hate to see it flooded STAY AWAY from this faulty product.Attached are pictures of both incidents. 1Do not buy! Cheap escutton! Plumber installed one month ago and came back to tighten today (09/02/16). The escutton cracked in six places. Unit is useless. 1Leaks right out of the box The filters work great, it looks nice. Installation is easy (if you haven't worked with PEX before, make sure to cut the ends of the tubing square and remove any burrs) and takes only a few minutes. However, it leaks. Not from the tubes or any fitting or the filters, the faucet itself drips. This is unacceptable for a new faucet. If the leak was due to my mistake (improper installation, not fully seating the tubing, etc.) this would probably have gotten 5 stars. With the leak due to poor quality on the manufacturer's part, and the fact that the drip costs money in wasted water and the environmental cost of wasted water, it gets 1 star. 1
