The Collapsible Rubber works fine with my Canon 55-250 mm lens The Collapsible Rubber works fine with my Canon 55-250 mm lens, but the Tulip Flower is terrible when used with my Canon 18-55 mm. It leaves a huge vignette on the corners, as you can see on the picture. 2**UPDATE** UPDATE****I did not reach out to the company, or complain to them, simply left this review for others not expecting anything in return. And the company reached out to me on their own and showed care and wonderful customer service and offered to send me a replacement for the tulip lense hood or a $5 refund! Since I had grabbed a cheap one from a local store near me I opted for the partial refund. However in the future if I need more I will still order from them as they showed willingness to address my issues and apologize as well! Thank you! (Side note to others- sometimes products you have and products you order have issues it happens even with the most expensive or high end brands but the willingness for the company that makes them to correct it is a very big plus in my eyes!)ORIGINAL****Works good and I was super pumped about these but the tulip one will not go on no matter how hard I try or how gentle or position or anything but the other full round one went on like a glove. 5Perfect FitFits perfectly on Nikon Coolpix 8800 VR. Had been looking for hoods and they were no longer available for this camera, which has been my backup as a photographer. Thanks for a great product at an excellent price.5Good Tulip, slight problem with rubber hood, great cleaning cloth and vendor!First, the Tulip works fine. It could be a tad snugger in the way it fits, but if you own a Nikon P900 you have to have a filter on first or you won't be able to thread it on as the lens retracts too far into the camera. The rubber hood was another story. The first one I got was improperly molded and I contacted DIgital Goja, who was amazing in that they responded to my e-mail ( picture included ) in 20 minutes and sent another right away. Unfortunately, the replacement was identical. Since I now had two, I had nothing to lose and I decided to apply a lot of force and twist the rubber hood around the metal threads so the the part sticking out the most would be on top instead of the side. Not easy, but doable. It ended up fine and I don't mind the unevenness on the top. Since the price of these two pieces is so low, the tulip works fine, and the cleaning cloth is above average at removing oily fingerprints, I find it hard to give them a low rating for a solvable problem and the vendor, Digital Goja, was excellent in their response to my problem in spite of their less-than-perfect 67mm rubber hood inventory. I am including a picture so you can see the nature of the problem and decide if this will bother you or not, considering it can be corrected ( different sized threads may not have this problem ) and the extra low price!4Great Option for the Money Both hoods work on my Nikon 50mm 1.8d. For now the rubber hood stays on while in my bag. They both have been tested and stop light flaring that was present without them. My Nikon lens cap fit both hoods. They may not last a lifetime, but for the price I can always order a second set and store it. If I'd stretch and say there is a con, the tulip is not reversible........not the purpose for having a hood in the first place. They both install smoothly and I have another microfiber for my Canberra bag. Digital Goja also has great customer service and thus far every product I've ordered for them has been well made at a great price point. 5Useful, but not a go-toThis is a short review of the 67mm sized hoods being used with a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens and Sony A7iii in aps-c crop mode.First off, everyone should know that if you're using a wide angle lens, you're already risking getting knuckles and other bits into the sides of pictures, so everyone should be prepared to crop their photos to eliminate vignetting.Rubber Lens Hood. This hood connects to my lens perfectly and allows the use of a lens cap. Build is solid. It does collect dust because it's rubber so if that's a deal breaker than obviously get something that is solid plastic or metal. Vignetting is terrible when hood is fully extended but very usable when collapsed.Tulip Lens Hood. I really wanted to love this, as it's what I was really after when I purchased the pair, but there is something wrong with the threading. As is, when connecting to my lens it sits rather loose and is very easy to over tighten and cause the hood to pop off the lens entirely. To make things more odd, I have the 67mm ND filter kit from Altura that works perfectly with my lens. The hood has trouble connecting to my lens, but screws into the filters with no problem and feels very solid. With the filter attached, the hood is extended and does cause slight vignetting even in APS-C crop mode. Another problem is that the tulip hood will not accept a lens cap.I don't think the vignetting on wide angle focal lengths is a deal breaker, but overall I think I'd rather have a different hood; preferably one made of metal or a denser plastic. I don't plan on dropping my gear, but I know for certain that the tulip lens is getting destroyed if it ever meets concrete. Honestly, for $10 I didn't expect much and will put these through the ringer either way. If you need something quick and cheap it could work for you as well, just don't expect it to be a permanent addition.3They're okay and quality seems fine, but the thread-on design is awkward and I find myself leaving them behind. I mostly use lens hoods as a way to protect my lens when I'm out and about with it, and hadn't ever actually purchased one before (the one I was replacing, which finally broke after many years of rough use, was given to me), so I had no idea what to look for when replacing it. I think this set is okay, but I found these both kind of awkward to deal with. They both screw on the end of your lens, so it's not quick to take them off and on, and you can't just flip them around and turn them backwards on the lens when you're storing your camera, like I did with my old one. (It had a spring system that let you easily clip it around the end of the lens, rather than threading it.) So I have to find a space in my camera bag to store them, and they're just kind of more of a pain than I'd figured on. I also can't get my lens cap back on when these are mounted, which I'm not sure if I should be able to or not, but I wish I could. :D Certainly didn't hurt to try them, and the price is great, but when I pull out my camera I find myself leaving these behind more often than not, so I'm going to look instead for something more similar to my old hood, that would be easier to use. 3The rubber lense is incredibly versatile and easy to useThe rubber lense is incredibly versatile and easy to use! 3 settings to manage light! Cannot believe such quality at that price. DO NOT waste your time buying hoods from canon/nikon as this serves the same purpose! You can see from the photos that even when shooting in high light situations I got beautiful darks. Thanks Goja for the great service and delivery as usual! I just wish they would ship more products to us here in South Africa5Nice package of itemsWhen I started buying DSLR cameras and modern lenses, one of the innovations that I liked was the lens hood that attaches to the front of a lens using a bayonet-style mount and can be mounted backwards for storage. This kind of hood is very convenient in many ways especially if a lens won't fit into a camera bag with the hood on the front of the lens. The hard plastic of the modern lens hood feels more substantial, and I generally like these new hoods.I recently purchased a lens that doesn't have the mount for this style of lens hood, and I needed to find the old style of hood that screws onto the filter threads. The rubber lens hood of this set works this way and is just like the hoods that I used long ago. These hoods are not without advantages. When the lens is on a camera and the camera is in a bag, the lens hood folds back easily. The camera can be brought out and the lens hood popped forward for a quicker shot than would be possible reversing a hard plastic hood with a bayonet mount. The rubber hood moves easily as rubber should, so anything bumping the hood won't send a jolt up the camera. Most of us will stay with the modern hoods, but I like knowing this product remains available when needed. The tulip flower hood is interesting. I'd never seen one of these made to screw onto a filter. The hood has two parts so that one can do most of the tightening and then keep the tulip "petals" in a particular position but finish tightening with the other piece. I haven't used this one, but the idea is neat. The addition of a microfiber cleaning cloth makes the deal a bit sweeter. We live in a world where we always need these cloths to clean one thing or another. Obviously, the point of this one is to clean a camera lens, but anyone can use an extra cloth.5Hood shows up in photographs on my Canon I'm new to accessories for my camera and these hoods had a high star rating but I have to say I am not happy with the product. I took both the rubber hood and the tulip out for a spin today and both create a vignette with my Canon EOS M3. See photos below for an example. Photo 1 is with the rubber hood and photo 2 is with the tulip hood. It looks like I'm going to have to send it back. 2BEWARE.....After installing it on lens, Canon original cap will NOT fit. Real Bad as Ad says it will fit, BUT it DOES NOT. After installing it on lens, Canon original cap will NOT fit. Real Bad as Ad says it will fit, BUT it does not. 1It does not work for the 18-135 USM lensI bought it for my Canon 18-135 USM lens and it did not fit. I read more about it and it seems the USM is slightly different than the STM lens. The material seem very good and I specially like the soft one with its folding ability.5fit my canon 7DI liked the option of the tulip or rubber adjustable lens hood. After a bit, I use the rubber lens hood most because I can change it without changing out the hood. The material seems to be quality and the price was right.5Decent, but not idealThe Tulip hood does not screw tightly onto my 18-200mm lens. With some adjustment of the ring, it stays in place. Fortunately, it does not block the field of view even at 18mm.The rubber hood is decent. As expected, it must be retracted to its shortest length for wide angle shots.I have only tested these hoods at home. As I start using them in the field, I'll get a better feel for them, and will update my review as necessary.3DUST MAGNETSI've finally been able to get out and use my camera with this new rubber lens hood. I have it for my 67mm and 58mm lenses. I liked that they were collapsible/adjustable, but kept them stored in their original boxes so as not to risk deformity. The detach easily from their threaded mounting ring which can be left in place on the lens if you choose. My lens caps actually stay firmly in place, unlike with the tulip hoods I have; I was ecstatic about that! The major problem with these hoods is that they attract and hold every speck of lint, dust, debris that comes anywhere near them, and no amount nor method of "cleaning" them is effective. I cannot return these as it is now well beyond the return window, but I will not be using them. I have enough issues with dust due to environment without having dust magnets directly attached to my camera.2Good luckApparently some people are ok with these. The mounting is terrible. my 18-135mm has to be at least at 35mm before the hood doesn't show. Save your money. I would send them back but not worth my time, which works great for the seller. I will probably toss them.1One Star You can see the hood in your pictures 1Great price, great product This product arrived ahead of delivery date (Thank you!). I always wondered about a lens hood, and having just purchased my first DSLR, I discovered why they are found so frequently on other people's cameras. After transferring my first photos to my computer, the lens glare surprised me. Now I know enough to shield the lens to avoid this. Both lens hoods fit my Canon perfectly, and are now a staple in my photo bag. Thank you Gojo. Great price, great product. 5
