    Sturdy build I bought this to hold up my 500+ page spiral-bound typing class textbook (pictured) so it would be closer to my computer screen and not lying flat on my desk. It does the job well. It holds the weight of this big book with no trouble. I have not tried it with a non-spiral-bound (i.e. non-fold-in-half-able) textbook because my desk is not wide enough to accommodate both that and my computer, but I'm sure it would work just as well.There are rubber feet on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on the desk. The kickstand on the back folds flat like the back of a picture frame. If you were using a much smaller collection of papers, you might get some use out of the clear plastic bar that slides up and down to hold your papers in place. The silver clip at the top also slides up and down to accommodate different paper lengths.As I said, I use it to hold a textbook while I type. You could also use it to hold up a recipe book while you are cooking, a tablet to read, watch a movie, etc., or anything else you might need to stand up. 5Thoughtful features I bought this one to replace one that doesn't have the "lip" on the bottom -- paper would slide, even with the plastic bar over the paper.So this one gets major points for the lip, and more points for the adjustable clip. The clip slides up and down, so if you need to read from something small, like an index card, it can be clipped to eye level. The copy holder is lightweight but sturdy, and the plastic bar is see-through, which is a big help, and a feature that some copy holders don't have. 5*3.5* Really This is one of those items you buy for those rare occasions you need it (i.e. transcribing notes), then promptly forget about. This is a decent item, if a bit overpriced for what it is. Perfect for holding a letter size pad of paper (legal might fit since the clip extends) or a sheaf of lose papers. 4I ll update this after use but at first glance. ... The clip that holds the paper just slides up and down so I m not sure once I put a sheet of paper in it, it ll stay where I need it to. Also, the clear highlighting thingy moves around too so we ll see. I ll change my rating after I use it if I need to.UPDATE: I ve used this a few times and it works very well. Holds the paper I clip to it and stays upright. I had my doubts but it s a good value for the money 4Nice enough product made better with a little hack... This is a nice product and it does what it says it does. What did take me aback a bit when I opened the box is that it looks much more solid in the pictures here. It's just a plastic contraption that looks like it will snap in two if you're not super gentle with it. It feels cheaply made. Maybe I'm wrong... Anyway, the see-through ruler wasn't working for me (I use this for working on medical statements that have tiny lettering and no spaces in between line items) so I devised a little hack: I printed a large black strip on a piece of paper, cut it, and taped it to the back of the ruler and voila! Now I have a black ruler that hides everything I don't want to see while working. So yeah, I'm happy with this product even though I had to modify it in order to make it work for me. 3Convenient, non-metal holder with easy to reposition sliding clip to guide your attention within a document I bought this stand to use with knitting patterns. It allows me to clip the pattern to the board and track my progress within the pattern by using the sliding clip on the side. I can turn the stand in a portrait (as shown in picture) or landscape (on its side) position depending on the orientation of my pattern printout. The stand is not magnetic. It has a sliding clip that can be moved up and down the document to focus your attention on a particular line in a document. I had something like this many years ago when I was a secretary, but I haven't seen anything like it in years. I like this better than a magnetic board because I don't have to struggle to pull the magnetic guide away from the base to reposition it within the pattern and it doesn't attract metallic objects. 5Guide Bar Stinks Holds papers well, but the guide bar does not sit straight across the paper. The end of it tilts down so much its more of a distraction than helpful. I might use it just to prop up my documents, or I might just throw it away. Very disappointed 1Great paper stand for the price This is great, does what it says. I take a lot of hand written notes for research then I need to type them up. Having this on my desk makes the job so much easier. The sliding clip at the top accommodates most paper. I also like the non-scratch feet at the bottom of the unit, since I have a nice wooden desk. It folds up nice so I can store it to the side when I'm not using it, which is great. The only draw back or flaw is the clear-ish ruler, anything that happens to fall under it isn't readable. So i just stick all of my papers in front of it. But as I go to highlight sections I notice the clear slider tends to get in the way even under the papers. 4Broken product and not the same as advertised sold This item was used and not what was in the item description. It s broken. The minute I put papers on it the whole thing crumbles and I was looking forward to not having to look down all day guess it was too much to expect that this was going to be what was advertised. The item in the box isn t even the item that was supposedly sold. The box has the 3M desktop document holder and who knows what this one is 1Uncommon use: iPadPro 12.9" After searching for a decent iPad Pro 12.9" stand to be used in portrait mode, I discovered using a typical document copy holder does everything I wanted. By slipping off the ruler guide and the copy clip, it's perfect for my iPadPro with back support above the half way point of the back rest, something NONE of the other tablet or laptop stands offered. All the other stands promote its product with tablets in its landscape position but they do not adequately support the iPadPro 12.9" in the natural page-oriented portrait position. I use mine for reading music during a performance. This document holder is light, folds flat, and very appropriately priced. Yes, it's made of plastic but like anything else, giving it due care, it is the best value for my use. 5
