Customer Reviews

Use all of your sockets even with large and strange shaped plugs. I've had this surge protector for over five months, and it is great. I use in all types of plugs without losing the use of a socket because of the size or shape of a plug. You can see in my photos that one plug is round and big, which would ordinarily prevent me from using a socket on a regular strip, another is extra wide and would ordinarily prevent me from plugging anything into the adjacent sockets. However, by twisting the socket next to it, I am able to use it. This surge protector is incredibly useful and relieves the frustration and waste of not being able to use all the sockets in a power strip. The power and surge indicator lights are really bright - they light up the whole room! I placed a piece of electrical tape a large part off the lights, but I am still able to make sure I can see them. This isn't a downside, just a personal preference. 5The plug in back doesn't rotate So nice to have the two plugs in front rotate, I just wish the one on the back did. If I use it on the wall outlet, I can't use the other plug, because the unit is just a touch too big. The back plug is directly under the USB ports and the unit hangs to the right side....so if anything is in your way on the right side of the outlet this won't work (my outlet has a light switch on the right side and a surge protector reset switch--this gets in the way of both). Good quality and so nice to be able to plug in USB cables. It just needs that one rotating plug to be five stars. 4Useful rotating outlets / USB ports output 2.1A TOTAL I already own two similar products: Monster Outlets To Go MP OTG300 and Philips Travel Surge Protector. But somehow I'm still running out of AC outlets and USB charging ports in the house. That's why I recently purchased this 360 Electrical 36053 Power Curve Mobile Surge Protector with Rotating Outlet and USB Ports.First impression: the unit is not as compact as it seems on product picture. This is because from the picture you can't tell how tall the unit is. The actual unit is a full 2 inches tall. It may not fit in tight spaces.Second, the two outlets on the unit can be rotated 360-degree (hence the name). But the AC plug of the unit itself does not rotate. That means when this unit is plugged into AC outlet on the wall, the two outlets are always positioned to the right. On my office workbench, however, the AC outlets are positioned horizontally and this unit cannot be used. The rotating outlets, on the other hand, turn out more useful than I expected. This feature is especially appreciated when I need to plug two bulky 'wall warts' (AC adapters) to the same unit.About the USB ports' current capability: Amazon product description says '1-Amp', while the back of the packaging says '2.1A Total'. What is not explained is whether each port can provide 2.1A.I did my own load test for the two USB ports, using the DROK Dual-USB Output Charging Detector to measure the currents. Here is what I determined:- Each port, when used by itself, is able to supply up to 2.2A at 5V- The TOTAL current from two ports is still limited to 2.2A- When I tried to draw more than 2.2A total current, the output voltage drops rapidly below 5V. This is actually a good thing because it means there is an output current limiting circuit inside. A cheaply designed product (such as the HDE 4 Port USB to AC Wall Charger) may attempt to supply higher current, but eventually will burn itself up.Bottom Line:Overall, I consider this unit a good value for my money. I hope to bring it for my next oversea trip, just to verify that it actually works with 220V AC (it should, according to manufacturer's web site).[Update on Nov 14, 2014]I have tested this unit with 220V AC input and it works just fine. So it makes a great USB charger and outlet extender for my trips. I only wish this unit is not so bulky when compared to the Monster OTG300. 5USB outlets stopped working after 1 year Both USB charging outlets stopped working about a year after purchase. Plus, the unit itself is not as sturdy when plugged in since the 2 AC outlets are 'offset' from where the unit plugs into the wall. I would have only taken off 1 star for that if the USB outlets worked better. That said, I'm disappointed with this item and don't recommend it. 1Work great Bought these for use on a cruise as there is very limited outlets in cabin. I am using this one right now in our hotel and it seems to be working fine. . I have another Bilkin brand but I cannot turn the plug in, very stuff and hurts my hand to get up to swivel. I can turn these without help. So fir that reason alone I prefer these. I bought one for each cabin my family will stay in during the cruise. 5Mostly good, a few annoyances + USB power info I received my 360 Electrical 36053 from my favorite store - Amazon. Based on my use this far I declare it "mostly good".The "GOOD": -It's a nice size for a two outlet + USB surge protector (fairly compact). -The build quality is good - appears durable. -The swiveling plugs are very handy to accommodate bulky adapters. -The USB power is not wimpy. I've been trying to upgrade my wimpiest 1 Amp USB chargers since alot of phones/tablets (even my HP Chromebook) these days are able to charge faster with more Amps - from the info provided on the 360 product I wasn't totally clear on it's Amp output capabilities for single device (ie, is that 1 Amp per outlet or more?). What I've since found is this surge outlet has 2 USB's but it appears if you use just one USB at a time it gives you full 2.1 Amp output but if you use both USB at the same time your Amps output will be less. Per the 360 instruction book "USB ports typically share power output..small devices require less...large devices require more".The "WHAT COULD BE BETTER": -Like alot of other surge protectors I've used the power lights (two of them) can be annoying if you have this plugged in a place where that might bother you (eg, bedroom, anywhere else where visually distracting). Would be nice if this feature included an off switch...in the meantime a tailored piece of black masking tape does the trick to cover up the lights. -This surge protector plugs in and then extends to the right side at a right angle and does not give you an option to swivel that position. In my case I had a door jam on the right side that was too close to the outlet and prevented me from using it in that spot.Overall, a nice product with a few things that could be better. At $18 price, 4-stars from me in consideration of price/value. 4Wow, finally one that actually works well! So pleasantly surprised! I've had to return so many of these types of charger/plug things that I was anticipating doing it again. At this price I thought I'd give it a try. Usually they don't charge as advertised or have some other weakness.Plugged it in, really liked the grounded and protected LED's, plugs rotate nicely - and - surprisingly, does a fast charge on my iPhone. iPad 4 has normal charging (maybe on the fast side). When both are plugged in, normal charging, no slowdown. My only complaint is it is a bit thick, can't slip it into your pocket, but since it's the only one I've tried that works well and the price is fantastic, I really can't complain. I'd rather have it thick and work well, then thin and unreliable. I think I'd also prefer a short wall cord plug that folds back in, instead of the fixed plug, but there may be a reason they did it this way. 5Customer service non-existent, don't trust reliability of product Update 6/28/16 - More than 90 days later and still no response for my warranty claim. BBB inquires in Salt Lake City go unanswered. Guess its time to call the States Attorney for Utah.Zero stars if I could, first time I used this outlet converter it fried my iPad mini. I used an OEM USB cable to connect to the USB port to to charge my mini, checked my battery level and it was at 47% the next morning the mini was hot and wouldn't turn back on. No one from 360 responds to my Facebook comments, everything is submit a warranty claim on their website and 90 days later then will let me know. I bought 3 of these to use, multiple of their cables and the duplex replacement outlets, probably $120 of their product that I can't trust. Can't imagine if I would have plugged in my iWatch what might have happened. 1Very nice, but mine burned. I liked how the unit worked and it was exactly what I needed. I would have rated it 5, and I know it's an anomaly, but I had to rate it 1 because of a malfunction. My unit had been plugged in for a few days. I usually use it to charge my devices. It hadn't been used in a couple of days, and it was just lucky that I found it. It had always run a little warm, even when idle, but when I removed the unit from the wall and it was hot. It had burnt through the back. It didn't cause any damage, but it would probably caused our house to burn had it ignited. That is the worst case scenario, I admit. Now I want to find another unit just like it, but different. Bummer. 1Nice Product / Poor Support I have had mine for two weeks. I like the utility of the rotating outlets. Works great. I bought it with an eye to taking it with me to England soon. The label on the back and their documentation says it's rated for 120V. Their website says that you can use it for 220 to 240V. 360Electrical, why not make your label and documents reflect your true specs? As I mentioned, I like the product, but it loses a star because 360Electrical does not respond to their website support emails (just asking a question). I wonder what kind of support I would have if I had a real problem with it.UPDATE: I have taken this with me on trips to England and China. The rotating sockets and the charging outlets worked fine. The only problem I had was when I plugged this unit into an adapter for the country. Then, I had to be careful what I plugged into the front of this unit. If what I plugged in was too heavy (like a wall wart), this unit would tend to pull out of the country adapter. A rubber band helped here. 3
