Customer Reviews

Absolutely Flimsy SturdyWhile using the adapters on a Z6 that had a Smallrig cage on it the camera took a tumble off of my Peli Air case which I was using as a work table on location. The camera fell about 10 inches before landing on the adapter making contact with asphalt. The adapter took the full impact of the fall and the camera and lens were maybe 3 pounds which bent the adapter so bad that it needed to be drilled out from the cage. Surprisingly flimsy for such a minor accident. But, the design of this adapter has a better ability to tighten & loosen with one's hand and usually stays tight unlike some more popular brand name accessories.1It's great for beginners but be Careful!I use these mainly for lights and audio devices. It's a good piece of equipment to have starting out in video production. I screw this on my hot shoe mount using a Zoom H6 audio device. Sometimes they kind of slide off or loosen when I'm in the field shooting video. One time it actually slide out of the hot shoe mount and was able to catch the device before hitting the floor. I tired my best to hand tighten it but that's not enough. You will have to use tools to tighten this if you don't want to take the risk in it slide off the hot shoe mount. I still use it to this day and try to watch what I do. I will have to purchase something a little better but these are working for me now and I've learned to work around the negatives. I still think it's a great product that could use some improvements just a tad bit!4Utterly Dissatisfied (where's the other fastener)Well, the photo of the product is inaccurate. I bought the Fotasy 10 pack since I believed our was good value for the money. Every one of the 10 pieces sent in one plastic bag (unsealed by the way) had only on one fastener (as shown in my photo) NOT the two fasteners as advertised on Amazon. Some shoddy work in the packaging department.1These are great for multiple mounts I tend to use on my ... These are great for multiple mounts I tend to use on my cameras. They are in great quality and don't feel cheap as in breaking apart. Me likey! 5The product itself is pretty straightforward. You know what it's for and why ... The product itself is pretty straightforward. You know what it's for and why you might be interested in getting this. For me, I wanted to throw my second softbox on a light stand, but I only have one light stand. I figured I could make it work with an old tripod I had lying around, so I ordered this to help facilitate the process, plus the price was great compared to other similar items from the name brands. It has performed very well and seems to be sturdy enough. I was worried at first because of the light weight, but the aluminum is solid. It's not as shiny as the product images; it's more of a matte look, which I actually prefer. If you find yourself needing something like this, I would highly recommend this product to you. 5Horrible quality. Unusable design. Pros:they are dirt cheapCons:the thumb screws are loose and floppy until you tighten the screw which reveals that the thumb screws - while loosely attached - are wider than the head of the screw so that they interfere with the tightening of the screw preventing it from seating properly. Even if you were to get it to tighten, the thumb part does not flip down flat against the body of the QR plate, which then makes it impossible to put the plate on a base. One stroke of luck was that these are SO cheaply made that properly tightening the screw will - in most cases - result in the flip up thumb part breaking off entirely. Leaving, in it s place, a usable, ordinary flathead camera screw.Complete pieces of junk and if I didn t need them today for a shoot I d have returned them already. The only thing that saved me was that one broke and I was able to then use it without the thumb part.I do NOT recommend these. Spend the extra 50 cents on the next brand up the list.1Works quite well. Did what I wanted it to do. UPDATE: I used this shooting a concert attacthing my Gopro to it then attaching it to my camera's hotshoe. Everything went well. This is a GREAT thing to use if you want to attach an action camera like a Gopro to your Camera's Hotshoe. While the adapter does feel a little flimsy I had no problems using it during an all day concert festival. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product if you want to use it the way I did. Keep in mind it will slide a little around the Hot Shoe but there is two screws you can use to tighten it so it would slide around as much or at all. 4All E-TTL cables use a plastic mount; here's the fixI'm cross-posting this review from an E-TTL cable which, if you've used any one of them, you know the plastic mounting plate is prone to breaking if you bump your flash on something (usually from people walking in a crowd). Fortunately, most cables also have a 1/4" female thread for mounting. A 1/4"-20 male post adapter with locking disk fixes this. This unit by Fotasy is all metal and a great permanent fix and a great value. The caveat is the weakest link in the mount will break, which is the plastic cable mount, which is a lot cheaper than a Speedlite. With this robust all-metal adapter, it will you need to be more mindful of your surroundings.5Two's Better Than OneBest bang for your buck it seems judging from the others listed. For only a few greens you get not one, but two of these hotshoe adapters and they even toss in a lens cleaning cloth. I know, I know, still a lot for just two screws and a bolt. I agree but a better than only getting one and they do work fantastic. The screw screws nice and easily and I have no problems using them to mount my Zoom H4n to a Sony A6000. I keep one in the bag and one with on my shelf for safekeeping. The cloth was fairly good size so I cut it in half and keep a half's in different bags so one is always easy reach. Thinking I will order a few extra of these to have around.5What's not to love about a set of reducer bushingsWhat's not to love about a set of reducer bushings? I'll tell you: a lack of threads. These only complete two complete revolutions. Common wisdom is that you need at least three of any size fastener to obtain acceptable strength.Other than that, not much to them. They arrived early, and came with a cleaning cloth, like pretty much every photography related accessory does.***My Rating Criteria***5 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product AND it is a good value4 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product, might have a minor flaw3 Stars: Generally works but I'd change a few things2 Stars: Barely works but can be made useful if you try1 Star: Useless, does not perform it's intended function whatsoever and is generally a waste of money4Gotta have these around... If you are a photographer you may find yourself in need of these when you least expect it. I prefer to keep them in my camera bags and really everywhere I have mountable gear. These are typical and easy to use. They are notched so they can be removed easily, and securely hold my gear together. A great value for my money when I need to change my gear configuration.Overall, I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend these to others... 5NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOI hate leaving negative reviews, but photographers work with expensive equipment and should know. I put a Nikon speedlight on this and it literally broke within 5 seconds. No exaggeration. Five. Seconds. And I was at a wedding and had to really think on my feet (gaff tape was involved, God bless it). And there is no way to fix it, other than gluing it, and that is a terrible option. Should I know better than to buy the cheapest option? You would think so. But if you're like me and are out there just trying to save a buck and you think, Oh, Amazon says this is the top choice! TRUST ME and move along. Spend the money and buy a good quality one. This is cheap, worthless crap. At best, you'll get one very shaky use out of it. At worst, your flash is in 16 pieces on the floor and the bride (and your soul) is crying. This is a no. It sucks. It is created just to make your life harder. Be smart. Don't buy it. And if you simply must buy it, secure it with something. Like a bungee cord and super glue. That MIGHT work. But probably not.1Very Poorly MadeJust received the "Hot Shoe Adapter V1" and the metal part of one of the hot shoes fell right off onto the floor as I was screwing it on. Glad it fell off before I tried attaching anything to it, or I could have broken expensive equipment. There's no way to screw the metal part back on, so I'm going to try gluing it since I needed them this weekend and don't have time to buy replacements. Fingers crossed the glue bonds to the plastic better than the tiny screws did in manufacturing. Luckily they only need to hold lightweight mics this weekend and not heavy expensive flash, because I wouldn't trust them. These appear to be poorly constructed. I wouldn't trust equipment on them and will likely toss them after the weekend.1Things to think about:I originally purchased these because the single piece, screw on cold shoes are more expensive and this seemed to be a better value. I was wrong. The first one that I tried had stripped threading, which resulting in the secondary, screw-on piece shooting off. If I had an item "secured" in it, it would have fallen to the ground. It also aligns poorly, as you have no mechanism to gauge when it is cinched to the rig. You basically are forced to spin it on a 1/4"-20 screw and hope when it tightens up, it's lined up.I would, and have, opted for the more expensive, single-piece cold shoe adapters that you get to secure to the rig in the exact position that you want.2
