I have multiple units, one for my dash cam and a couple for RC applications.The camera is not water resistant which proved to be a serious problem in the RC applications.The dashcam application has been working perfectly for over a year with no issues.5Durable!Durable, on quad copter, survives crashes and abuse.5First impressionsThis is an excellent little camera, it had decent specs for the money (generally $80 but as little as $65-70 if you are willing to risk getting a fake from eBay). The seller I purchased from was "Eye of Mine Action Cameras" and my order was delivered across the US within 5 days. The kit was somewhat poorly packaged, with everything just thrown into a box and only a few bits of bubble wrap was used. I noticed bits inside were rattling around. A little bit of brown paper packing would have gone a long way to fix that. The instructions included were very good and unlike a lot of other chinese products, they were written in proper english instead of the all to common chinglish variant! It is very well written and I was able to get my camera up and running without having to refer to outside online sources.In the package was a bit of velcro, A clip or holder w/ detachable tripod mount, an allen wrench to change the focus of the lens, a very short and low quality ~2.5 feet mini USB, and a lens cover. I did not expect it to come with anything more. It would have been nice to also have a AV cable in the package. It is over $7 by itself (considering long USB cables are $3, I consider that a rip off) I was able to fabricate that myself with an old very cheap mini USB adaptor originally sold with a power bank.The quality of the footage at 1080p 30fps is quite good, perhaps a bit grainy in gloomy indoor conditions, but very sharp. There is a little bit of barrel distortion or fish eye distortion in the 1080p wide viewing angle mode. It is only noticeable under certain conditions though. There is also a bit some "rolling shutter" effects while panning around very fast or fast recording fast moving subjects, but with normal usage again it is not too noticeable. At 720p 60fps, the viewing angle is noticeably reduced and footage becomes softer. The advantage is that the barrel distortion and rolling shutter distortion is reduced significantly, and because it is recording in 60fps, the final footage is buttery smooth! This mode will be great good for fast movements and motion. The audio quality for video is phenomenal in my opinion for such a small camera, it is very sensitive and clear, and I can't hear any electrical noise either.There is also a picture mode, as well as a time-lapse mode that can be configured (along with all many other settings). In timelapse mode, the camera will simply take multiple pictures per second, as many as 4, 5 MP images per second and as few as one per minute. The pictures in low light are grainy like the footage, but I have not had the chance to see the quality of them in better conditions yet. The picture quality is not that much better than video quality, so this is probably not the best camera to use for photos.The camera also supports an AV output for those who wish to use this for FPV purposes (like myself) or to playback footage or live stream on a TV in SD quality. I don't know why other than possible convenience why anyone would want to do this because the quality of analog composite is not great. It is much better to just plug it into the computer and open the recorded clips! Also it should be worth noting that apparently the live video out is only video, and not audio. Audio only works with video playback mode though the AV cable. This may not be important except those with special and niche usages like as a recording surveillance camera. Some other ideas for the live AV out would possibly include getting a small LCD monitor to make it easier to frame a subject while recording.Some of the settings include video resolution, viewing angle (only selectable for 1080p), refresh rate (only selectable for 720p), 2 programmable video profiles, loop recording, audio volume, motion detection, wide dynamic range, video bitrate, analog AV output format, date/time stamp, as well as settings for sharpness, exposure, contrast, saturation, white balance, and other color optionsOverall this is a nice camera with respectable specs and many features and configurables. Can't wait to use it on my drone!4GreatGreat little guy! The battery lasts a bit over 30 minutes, but anyway I keep it plugged all the time.
