    For fixed wing Item as described. I'd say it's more for fixed wing than rotor. I fly R22/44 helicopters and using this was a pain. 1) I'm a female and this took up my entire leg. Not comfortable at all. 2) Map can only go on right side but for me, it would have been more convenient on the left. 3) There's nothing to secure the bottom parts of papers on the clipboard. There's also no way to secure the side panels. If you fly a helicopter with the doors off, documents and your kneeboard start flapping everywhere. Unreadable, annoying and unprofessional. 4) Not versatile. 3Plenty of space nicely designed This is my first kneeboard so I can't comment on how it compares to others, but so far it has been perfect. The only confusion I got while shopping for a kneeboard is the prefix IFR or VFR. I do mostly VFR and was wondering if IFR would be overkill. Once I received it I can't see why the IFR prefix is even necessary, it works perfectly as an VFR kneeboard.The include metal clipboard will last you a long time. It is a very well designed kneeboard all around. 5Could be better. The kneeboarding is good for the price. The Velcro could be improved by making the pike (fuzzy) side longer to accommodate thinner thighs for light weight pilots like,myself. I can see the straps eventually stretching out and the pile side not being effective enough to support the kneeboarding on thinner legs. This is a common problem with most Velcro type kneeboards. A clip with adjustable strap would be preferable. 4Perfect for a commercial EMS helicopter pilot I had an old tri-fold that finally "bit the bullet" so I needed a new one. Was a little concerned with comments about poor velcro on the ASA, but, I have to say, it is just what I wanted and needed. The velcro is plenty strong. Being an IFR pilot, I like the aluminum clipboard with good IFR checklists including: (1) flight plan form, (2) ATC radio reports, (3) lost comms, (4) cloud clearances, etc...I would definitely recommend this one. The size, at about 7 inches wide by 10 inches long is the perfect size for me, gives me plenty of room to write things down and fits on my leg nicely. No complaints and would recommend. 5Got me started - to say the MOST. When I started helicopter school last year I decided to get all my books and supplies on amazon - because the school has the stuff but expensive. I ordered this kneeboard because it wasnt too expensive, and it seemed like it would serve it purpose. Of course, I had just started training so I knew nothing LOL.First of all, I train in robinson R-22's (like everybody else), and there is not enough room for you to have this kneeboard folded out to reveal your map, nav log, and whatever else you might want to see. Second, while doing longer cross country flights where you might want to flip your chart around, you have to pull it out of the clear sleeve to do so which is a pain, especially if going solo OR you can just fold the 2 flaps under and clip your chart to the clip board - but then theres no strap to keep the map or anything else from flapping in the wind!! After a year of training, these things might seem easier and less of a hassle - but when you are a new student, this crap is stressful, adds to workload, and keeps you from learning as much as you can...The last thing you want to concentrate on while learning how to fly is the kneeboard.The last thing I will say about this kneeboard is that the straps itself are just elastic, with a small velcro at each end. They actually disconnected on a couple of occasions.I cant comment on how this kneeboard would work in other situations, but for my situation I just described its horrible. I eventually just bought one of the flyboys kneeboards that my school sells and its a whole lot better. The straps are solid to keep the board on your knee, there is a clear strap that can go over your chart so it doesnt flap, there is easily accessible pockets, slots, and pen holders, and there is also a binder type flap where you could hook up rings - which is useful for instrument training....All the instrument students at my school use this kneeboard and have laminated instrument procedures on this binder flap. Do yourself a favor and shoot for the flyboys kneeboard for $40, the extra $20 will go far! 2Not great. This KB is too big. If you have a giant cockpit and want to carry a ton of gear on your knee then this is for you.If you fly fighters this will get in your way. It s surface area is about 20% greater than a folded sheet of paper. The flaps are pretty useless. 2well built and very large seems like a very durable board with outstanding room for charts and other items to kep organized. The result is a very large knee board. I have had to use it in several different locations on my leg in order to keep it from bumping into other parts of the cockpit. Just a little bit too big for the average cockpit but very useful and well designed. 4You will not realize how handy it is until you forget to bring it! Very handy! Start using one of these early in your training so you will be used to it when you start solo XC trips 5convenient in-flight organizer This kneeboard is very convenient for organizing your essential items in-flight. There is an aluminum clipboard in the central pocket, a chart pocket on the right and 2 full-length pockets on the left. I keep my home airport A/FD in the chart pocket for easy access of information, an E6B and airplane checklist in the 2 left pockets. Scrap paper for note taking (ATIS or ATC) and other cheat sheets stay on the clipboard. Some users complaining about the chart pocket being too short for sectional. But I think a longer version will get in the way of flying for people shorter than 6 ft. The materials and stitching seem sturdy. I wish the elastic strap on the fabric cover can be removed and used on the clipboard if one decides to keep it simple and less bulky. Overall, it's a good companion for pilots. 4What you want from a kneeboard Great tool, much more useful than a single clipboard kneeboard. The storage on this is great with the little pooches on the left. Also a flight computer straps in nicely to the left side. You will have to fold the charts unconventionally to get it to fit in the right side, but nothing unmanageable. Best kneeboard I have seen, also youll see a lot of people with this kneeboard. Its a safe purchase 5
