Customer Reviews

Overall, excellent, but...I've had this for a year now and am overall very pleased. Actions are smooth and quality seems high. I feel it will last a long time. A problem I have noticed recently , though, is as follows: When having a large camera on with a large lens, my Sigma 150-600mm C lens, at 4.3 lbs., I turn the tension up so that when I loosen up the head to move around it has some tension on it so it's not easily flopping around. The problem comes when I go to tighten the ballhead on my subject the whole thing tends to push downward and off the subject. I have to imprecisely guess how much it will push down and then tighten to get on my subject and this might even take two or three tries to get correct. A solution to this issue is to loosen the tension so it's real loosey goosey and flopping around. When I tighten the ballhead down then it does not have this tendency to push forward. It is unfortunate that it doesn't maintain it's position when tension is high for heavier loads but I also don't know if it happens on all or maybe just mine after time and use has passed. Anyway, keeping it for now as that it's only during special use times, heavier loads, that I really notice it and have to deal with it. My star score would definitely be higher, probably a 5, if it weren't for this issue.Upgraded to 4 stars in 4/2019 as I've been using it a lot and it simply, for the money, has been very solid. Glad I bought it, highly recommended.4Benro B1 Ballheads is great for wedding photographersI originally ordered the B0 but I exchaged it for the B1 because the B0 did NOT securely support my Canon 6D with a vertical grip and a 24-105mm lens when tilted down to photograph the details at a wedding. The B1 is slightly stronger and it's the perfect match to my Benro Adventure 2 Series carbon fiber tripod. I expect this combo to last me many years to come as it looks very sturdy, durable and high-quality, also very lightweight overall.5Fine quality for a good priceComparable to ball heads costing three times as much. Made in China. Nice fit and finish. Strong.I could find no operational difference between the drag control and the lock control. Both add friction. The lock is larger, so adds more friction with less effort.Adjusting the camera was fairly easy. I had to carefully support the camera as I tried to find the best compromise between friction and movement. Never quite found that point.A very nice ball head for a lower price.4Sits on top of a Benro Adventure monopod. This thing is way under rated. I am quite sure it s strong enough to split wood. Seriously! I put it on a carbon Benro monopod and this thing rocks!. Consider checking the YouTube vids for how to use a ball head with a monopod. You are welcome.Ball heads (I have 4) are so simple; I don t understand how I could want a RRS or other high end head. I bought a Benro Travel Angel tripod years ago and it includes a monopod on one leg. Benro is a great product.5Highly recommend!Very pleased with the smooth action and sturdiness of this ball head. I have no doubt that it will handle my Nikon D7100 and Tamron 150-600 lens. Very solid and well made!5Screw Head Broke OffLooking at reviews I was very cognisant of what not to do, to not use small screws to hold the weight of what should have been on the large screw, only to use them for positioning. After 2 1/2 months of use the screw head broke off. I was very happy with this ball head before it broke, very stable and held well. I called Amazon and they are sending another one out to arrive in 2 business days which I am more than thrilled about. Hopefully this is a bad ballhead. I will update my review in another 6 months of use.2Great tripod ballheadThis was a replacement ballhead for one of the same kind that was damaged. I was leary about buying camera equipment online at amazon, since I normally buy from a reputable camera shop. However, I checked out amazon and found they had the exact ballhead I needed to replace at a cheaper price and I could get it faster than at the other store. It came well packed so it wasn't damaged and arrived on time. This is a great ballhead! I have a very heavy camera and use a 500mm lens with it which is also quite heavy. I have no problem using the ballhead to adjust where my camera is pointed. It holds it very steady. I recommend this ballhead.5Smooth ActionSo far, so good. Had this head out in the dark, doing astrophotography. Knobs easy to find and work in the dark. Rubber coating easy on my middle-aged fingers. Plays well with my Gitzo tripod. Score!5Good Alternative To Pricey BallheadsReally impressed with this ballhead for the price. I have owned a variety of them and usually more costly in the $300 range. Honestly if you are looking for a cheaper alternative this is a good one. I bought in a pinch to have as a backup for my current Acratech since it was wearing out. I ended up using it as the main ballhead for the trip. I have only had it on a week long dusty trip and it performed quite well. I am assuming it will continue into the future but time will tell.4B00 NOT TRIPLE ACTION: no friction control but for double action seems fine.Seems like a decent tripod head that locks soilidly Howe er Amazon has the b00 listed as a triple action (pan & ball locking knobs as well as friction control) and the b00 is only a double action meaning no friction control. The b0 is the triple action according to benro s website so I ve ordered that one and am returning his one. Frustrating waiting for something and finding out it wa just an incorrect item description. This review seems to show up under both B00 and B0 so check which one you want before ordering!4
