Just what I needed.Works perfectly to connect my newer Windows tablet and laptop to my older projector. Quality seems good and I don't have issues with the video occasionally going out like some people have reported. Audio output is great and allows me to hook up my portable speakers and use the whole setup for backyard movies. Just the part I needed!On a side note, I originally bought this to use with my Chromecast, but my projector itself is not capable of a resolution that works with the Chromecast (my projector only does 800x600). Not the fault of the connector but I still had a real use for it with my tablet and laptop which are perfectly fine for presenting movies.5New life for an older projector; finally full resolutionI realized one day that using RCA composite cables (from a ROKU) in my older projector was limiting the resolution to 480p, so I researched dozens of HDMI to VGA convertors and chose this one.The first thing to notice is the build quality. You can see it is very good. Then I connected an HDMI cable from the ROKU to it, and then a VGA cable from it to the VGA port on the projector, and finally I connected a 3.5mm audio cable from it to the audio input of the projector.I showed my wife the RCA connection, which had looked great for a year, then showed her the HDMI/VGA connection and she was shocked. Instantly the picture quality was at XGA which is the maximum of my projector and looked almost HD.The audio connection works awesomely as well. Although the overall volume, or dB gain, is less then the direct RCA audio connection. This may be the projector itself or a reality of hdmi audio. It only means the maximum volume is not as loud as it was. It's not a negative. If I was going to use the same setup as above, where the volume is controlled by the projector, for an outdoor movie night an amp or louder speakers will be needed. I am, for the record using 2.1 computer speakers and they are only 5 watts.The picture quality is amazing. The colors and contrast have improved in addition to the overall resolution. I was going to buy an HD projector, but this awesome product upgraded my home cinema to the point where it would be hard to see the difference.Let me be clear. This simply allows an HDMI connection to the VGA port, so your maximum resolution will depend on your individual projector. Also since sound and video are carried through HDMI this has a separate audio output for it.This will not allow devices to recognize your projector as an HDMI device however. HDMI has coding language that transfers between devices and since this is HDMI to VGA it will consider your device a Standard definition device. This means an XBOX will not play in 1080p format (which beyond graphics affects certain features; such as no multiplayer on Minecraft). This is not a Con of this item, it's just how HDMI works.Tendak makes a version of this that has the HDMI attached, it's a smaller footprint but wouldn't have worked with the ROKU because of limited plastic space surround the HDMI port. So I chose this design for the fit I needed. It's something to think about.I highly recommend this. I would say that anyone who has a VGA input capable device get one of these right now. You will be very happy with your results.5Simple converter that works great with my Nintendo SwitchI'm a teacher and I bought this converter so that I can connect my nintendo switch to my overhead projector and play mario kart with students when they earn the opportunity as a reward. I'm very happy with this purchase and glad I found something like this that suited my needs perfectly.5Works great for ChromecastBought this to see if it would allow me to use Chromecast with my Dell P2311 monitor. It works very well. The image is clear and sharp. The audio is split out to a 3.5mm jack, and can be run to a speaker that accepts 3.5mm line-in (it comes with a ~3' male-to-male 3.5mm cable).On thing to consider...The VGA output is female, and your monitor likely has a female VGA port, so unless you want to run a long cable between this adapter and your monitor, you'll want to get a short converter.5Multi-purpose SolutionTerrific product! I have a Microsoft Miracast adapter and wanted to make my external monitor wireless; this works perfectly. Now my tablet PC can be used as a tablet and I still have the extra screen when I need it. I'm very pleased with this purchase and will purchase again from this company.5Product lasted a year before it diedWas satisfied with the product until it recently stopped functioning. Tried it with two different Firesticks and it didn't work. The Firesticks functioned fine connected straight to HDMI ports. I was using it because my TV didn't have enough HDMI ports and was constantly swapping devices. I don't watch Bluray or DVD's much anymore so don't think I'll replace it.1Works*Yes, it works and is very easy. Unfortunately, my screen blacks out for a split second every minute or two. This will never pass the wife test on movie night. Using it with a 2nd generation Fire TV Stick.Update: It worked for about four hours. My Fire TV Sick overheated a few times, and now the adapter doesn't work with any HDMI devices anymore. Returning it and starting over with my research.Update 6/20/17: Tendak immediately replaced my device the day after it failed and the replacement is working fine with my Chromecast. I have never seen a vendor so interested in making things right with a dissatisfied customer.3Works great with Chromecast to video projector and external speakersI used it to split video and audio from Chromecast, for video projector with sound output to an external speaker (or to an earphone for silent video play). Otherwise the Chromecast would be limited to use only with TVs, or an expensive AV system if you don't like the TV's crappy speakers. This dongle works great! And another good thing about it is that this adapter dongle DOES NOT require an external power supply!The hardware that I used:1. Google Nexus 6 smart phone2. a projector, VGA input3. an external speaker for audio out4. this dongleHere is how it worked:1. connect Chromecast to the dongle's HDMI side2. VGA connector to the video projector from the female VGA side of the dongle3. connect audio out to an external speaker.4. Use my Nexus 6 phone to cast screen through the Chromecast.Now I can play YouTube videos from my Nexus 6 and project the video to the wall with sound from the external speaker.5Be Certain this is what you need!I bought this for one reason: to attempt to replace an HDMI input on my TV. Some months ago, all the HDMI inputs to the TV blew out. Thus, no Roku, no cable box, no Blu-Ray--the only thing I could do is antenna. With this item i was able to do just that. I bought a Google Chromecast to plug into the Tendak device, from there i plugged the vga side of the Tendak device into the vga plug on my monitor. With the monitor plugged into wall outlet for power and Presto! Im watching Netflix, hulu, YouTube and hbo go in the conforts of my garage. The Tendak device also has a head phone jack on it so i purchased a simple analog cable (red and white) with a headphone plug on the end and was now puting the sound thru my stereos reciever. I get great video and great stereo sound and all from junk you can find at rummage sales all tied together by this device. And i controll it from an old smartphone that my friend was gonna toss. Convenient and recycling. Not to mention affordable!5
