Customer Reviews

Fast, reliable, affordable. This is the second one of these I bought (newer model) and couldn t be happier. I m using it to convert an IP cam to a wireless cam and it works flawlessly. Best part is the optional power plug allows me to split off the power for the camera to this adapter with a simple Y connector so I only need 1 power supply for both. It also accepts anything from 5v-24v and auto steps so it can be used with pretty much any up cam power supply out there. For the money I can t find a better Wifi adapter. Only thing I wish is if they made one that was water proof for outdoor use but even still it s amazing that it can handle the load of a 4mp IP cam without skipping a beat.5Works with my old XBOX 360 to replace the xbox wireless adapter! It came the next day after I ordered it! AwesomeWorks with my old XBOX 360 to replace the xbox wireless adapter! I didn't want to buy the one microsoft makes for 70 bucks so I researched and saw this on youtube. All you do is put the mini cd in your pc desktop or laptop and run it,after it configures it turns blue and you take it out and put it on the xbox, thats it, you never need to have it connected to your laptop again. It's cheap its easy it works! No more running cables and wires all over your house! Also it works for other equipment and televisions that require internet Ethernet hook ups!5So Easy to use. Low power. Great range. Reliable!!I repair laptop computers, so many times their internal Wireless card drivers don't get installed by the operating system. In these cases I use the Vonets bridge plugged into the laptops Ethernet and USB ports to connect to my Wireless network. The initial one-time setup of the Vonets bridge was quick and easy. Once its setup, its always ready to use. I can just plug it into a machine and it quickly connects to my wireless network. It's small size and low power are so much nicer than my previous bridge that required an external power supply.5Absolute HeadacheAll I needed was to connect my printer to my internet without having to stretch an Ethernet cord to it from another room. If Amazon allowed, I would give this zero stars. I spent several hours of my life trying to set this thing up & I was unsuccessful. I even watched every video I could find on YouTube about this device & they were of no help. The time I wasted, I can never get back. If anything, it stretched my patience to its absolute limits as I fought with & lost the battle in trying to get this device from hell set up. Luckily I was able to control my frustration by keeping in mind that I could return it for free with a full refund. If that weren't possible, I honestly would have attacked it with a hammer, then run it over with my car. No worries. I returned this piece of junk without a single scratch.****Update****After my horrible experience with this product, I promptly boxed it back up and returned it to sender. In the meantime, I got back on and found another product of which I just received today & I had it set up in less than 5mins, not hours, but minutes. If you don't want to have the same experience I did and can afford paying the few extra bucks....and trust me, it's worth it, then look up the IOGEAR Universal Ethernet Adapter. My ethernet-dependent printer is printing like a dream now all thanks to this little handy device. Take a look at the attached photo and get one for yourself. You'll thank me later for doing the right thing by not just using my comments to complain, but to offer a better solution.1Surprisingly solid bridgeI picked this up for a camera system that I wanted to keep in my garage. As I rent I couldn't create the hole for the network run so I tried this thinking that if it didn't work I wouldn't be out much money. To my pleasant surprise this thing is fast and reliable. The instructions are a little confusing but it is an easy device to reset, so first time I bricked it but the second time I configured it the correct way and it has been moving data 24x7 for the past week with no drops or failures. I'll definitely be looking at this company for my next wireless device, very pleased with feature set and value for dollar.5Avoid the headache - spend a few extra dollars and get a quality product that worksI purchased this adapter for the purpose of connecting my VOIP work phone (which only supports wired internet) to my home WiFi network. I've used similar adapters in the past, and have had no difficulty setting them up and using them. I knew that this adapter did not support WPS, which allows a device to easily log in to your WiFi router, but that didn't deter me since I could (in theory) just manually log the adapter into the router once it established a WiFi connection. At least that's what I thought. Unfortunately, I didn't get that far. For the longest time, the adapter wasn't able to establish a WiFi connection to my router. Once it did, the poorly-designed adapter login screen was useless, as it crashed every time I tried to actually log in to the router. When I finally was able to log in to the router, the adapter went into reset mode, which it is apparently programmed to do. But, as part of that reset, it bricked, and would only display a rapidly flashing blue light from then on. Needless to say, after wasting two hours and ending up with a bricked device, I returned it.Now, here's the good news. That day, I ordered an IOGEAR Ethernet-2-WiFi Universal Wireless Adapter, GWU637 from Amazon. Thanks to Amazon, it arrived the very next day. I plugged the new adapter in to my phone, pressed the WPS button on my router, pressed the WPS button on the adapter, and was up and running in less than 5 minutes. No joke.DLDR: Avoid this product, spend a few more dollars on the IOGEAR, and save yourself tons of frustration.1PS3 Nightmare to Wireless DreamI bought this to add wireless connectivity to my 1st Gen PS3, and it has been a nightmare. But the nightmare is over.I'm not going to bore you with the 200 things I tried before getting this to work, so here's what I ended up with:Vonets Dongle was configured with my wifi info by plugging it into my Win7(64) PC. (I did not get the disc that I've read about) The network test failed, and I was getting a DNS error. I discovered the manual DNS settings for the PS3. (208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220). I assigned an IP, entered my router's IP, and success.4when it works, ok... but can't recommendmultiple issues...as a basic wifi repeater, it's ok. needed it for WIFI AP (wireless connection to ethernet). as some reviews mention, this is much more involved than manual suggest. cannot be done following manual. even then never worked properly even after getting support. add to that "hold button 5 seconds to reset all settings to default" never worked. held button 5sec, 10sec, 60sec... never reset. after just two weeks device started rebooting or shutting every 30 seconds. useless frustrating waste of time and money. can't recommend. tossed it in garbage."1Precio y facil de operar Solo conectar, configurar y a volar en internet, el precio es insuperable y facil de operar... Solo es necesario una computadora con puerto LAN o WIFI para acceder al setup.Conecte via LAN al PC (con el cable RJ45)Conecte via WIFI a la SSD con el prefijo: VONETS_ y el pass:12345678y digite la direccion 192.168.254.254 en su navegador para acceder a la configuracionfacil. y gracias 5Works Well But Setup May Not Be for NovicesI bought this to convert a wired IP camera into WiFi connected IP camera and it works great! The instruction manual is pretty poor but anyone with a little computer network savvy should be able to get it working. But note that this isn't a plug and play device - you'll have to enter some network information so if you don't know how your home network is set up and you don't know how to work with networks including setting a static IP on your PC and also aren't inclined to learn how to do so then don't buy this. The instruction booklet is confusing. To use the Vonets to convert a wired network device to wireless the instructions refer to it as "WiFi AP". So follow the section titled "3. The application configuration of AP".What that section fails to mention for the rookies is that before logging into the configuration page you need to set your PC to a fixed 192.168.254.x IP first (i.e. 192.168.254.10 - any number 1-253 will work as the last octet/digit). (if you don't know how to do this Google "set static ip windows" or "set static ip linux") If you don't set your PC to a 192.168.254.x IP first you won't be able to connect to the device via the network cable.I plugged the dongle network cable into my PC LAN port and plugged in the USB connector for power. I then entered http://192.168.254.254 IP for the device into my browser URL address bar which brings you to the configuration page for the device. In the configuration you connect the dongle to your existing WiFi first. It's easiest to access an IP camera (or printer) that has a fixed/static IP and my IP camera already had a fixed IP. I opted to also set a static IP for the dongle on my home network outside of my wireless router DHCP range so that I could easily access the device's configuration page later if needed. (That means I ended up with two fixed IPs - one for the IP camera and one for the Vonets dongle - I still connect to my IP camera with the same IP as when it wired.) After the initial setup it rebooted and connected after a pause. Instantly my wired IP camera had became a WiFi IP camera!I'm not running this continuously, but every time I power the dongle back on with my camera it connects right up to my WiFi AP and runs great! I've had no problems with the connectivity of the Vonets dongle. For those instead recommending the IOGEAR GWU637 note that although it undoubtedly sounds easier to get working it's also more than twice the price of this device, so I'd say it's not a fair comparison. So if you're a novice and you're willing to do a little research and work you can get this device working and save yourself a fair chunk of change. For the tech savvy I don't see any downsides, especially at this price. This device is a winner!52 problems, but worth $20 for my printer in a different room. This is a review (and suggestion guide) to anyone who would like to use this product.2 things to keep in mind. There is no outside power source supplied with this unit. The specs show 2 amp power ( i used a 1 amp unit... which i got from my Palm product years ago) from the USB connector, which is ok if you are using with a game system or computer that has an open USB slot. 2nd, the password on the back of the unit (which is very clearly displayed) is for the SSID & not the login to web browser into the device 192.168.254.254.I used this device to connect a network printer. Works great. Took me 20 minutes to setup. These are the steps i used. 1.) Connect to your computer (USB & RJ45). Set your Network to 192.168.254.52 (this would be the physical {not wireless} network). login in with admin, admin. Connect your wireless network... adding your passphrase password, then check the box for disabling DHCP. (NOTE: I disabled Hotspot because i didn't need it). Change the IP Address so it is on your network 192.168.x.50. (use IPCONFIG & then PING to verify it is available). In the web browser you will have to reboot the device to save the changes. Lastly, Disconnect the physical connection & ping the device to make sure it is working correctly. When i disconnected the unit and moved it to it's permanent location it took almost 2 minutes for it to come up. Be patient. Even with the 1Amp power the device runs hot. That may mean it will burn out, but time will tell. For 19.99 I'm happy to be able to have a mobile printer. Have fun!4So far so good Just got it up and running on a TiVo Premiere XL4 using the TiVo USB as the power source. WiFi router is an Apple Airport Extreme. There's no need to install a Windows setup program with the VAP11G-300! After connecting the device to a PC or laptop, wait about 5 minutes for it to start up. Then point your browser to the config web address: vonets.cfg. That brings up a setup web page. (This is documented in the VAP11G-300 Quick Setting Guide.) That allowed me to scan for and select my WiFi hot spot and enter the password. I disabled the Repeater hot spot since I don't need it. Rebooted the device and connected it to the Tivo. Works like a charm so far. 4Amazingly handy device with typical bad Chinese software The Good - Used this little device to make my Laser Cutter wireless and it works perfectly for such. It connects within 3 seconds which is good. No more USB cable suspended across the room or running a cat5 around the room. A week later and it works perfectly saving me time and no more tripping hazard. The Bad - Really bad setup software compatibility which is pretty typical with Chinese software. I had to go through 3 computers to run the software to set the thing up. Thank God you only have to run the software once, that is unless you change your router or wifi key which is why I set up a guest account just for this device so I never have to change the key.1st PC: First machine was my primary desktop I use every day with windows 7 x64 which yielded the task manager showing multiple instances running but nothing would show. In hind sight I could have tried safe mode with networking support but that's not something most people know to do and it slipped my mind from the shear excitement of having my new toy.2nd PC: An old 1Ghz compaq laptop with win Xp x86 which the setup program did start on but kept saying no Network card installed which it has a built in network card because it's a laptop.3rd PC: I finally got the setup program to start and configure the bridge on my HP netbook with win Xp x86. It did take running the setup software several tries for the device to connect to the network thou.A week later and it works perfectly saving me time and no more tripping hazard.Funny thing about 1st PC is two days later the software started it's self after nightly shut downs and I was like WTF! 4Failure Complicated setup. I was never successful getting this to work and I'm pretty tech savy. Too bad - it's nice as the basic cables are attached and the form factor is good. I tried using this to give me an Ethernet connection to a TIVO mini. I could never get the IP address correct. I bought the TP-Link N300 and it works great with a much easier setup procedure. 1
