Customer Reviews

What's not to like?I bought the 7 and the 12. I can't think of a reason to dislike these squares. As a carpenter that is getting up there in years, I find it increasingly hard to read the markings on the typical silver speed square. The contrast with these squares makes it much easier to read (and thus leads to fewer errors). Both of mine arrived in perfect condition. Well made and none of the errors that others have complained about. The only thing I would ever have an issue with is if the markings wear off over time, but that's not an issue yet. Time will tell, but so far, they're great.5Cool, but I would not purchase again unless etchedThese look great until the black finish eventually wears off after a few months of use on a job site after continually sliding across your lumber. At this point these become somewhat difficult to read.I do like the extended width of the scribe notches for the pencil. If these were mfg'd in black and the markings etched instead to expose the silver aluminum I would give them a 5.....Not really practical under extended use unless you dont mind buying a replacement every 6-8 months2The Best Just Awesome Get ItI wish I had found this years ago. I have always had the old Swanson speed square. The markings on this one are much more precise! I use it as my short tape measure all the time now, whereas a Swanson speed square mark seems like 1/16 inch wide so you have to kind of decide which side to go to which is not an issue with this one. The extended scribing notches are what sold this for me because that is something I use all the time but I didn't realize till I got it that you were able to mark up to 3 1/2 in going the other way with markings. I will never own a different square and I wish I didn't already buy a 12 inch square because I would be getting one to match this and I still might.5Clear markings make using it a joyWhen I selected this, I compared against cheap plastic, and super expensive squares. What sold me on this, and I continue to be happy with, is the quality of the markings, which are on par with the $150 titanium square. If it had a level, it would be perfect.5Defective product - be carefulI received mine and the pivot point notch was drilled incorrectly. It was located about 1/8" down the edge, rather than being flush/tangent with the square lip edge. I am returning it.1Missing the dimensions. It's a great improvement to the standard quick square however mine didn't come with any numbers "laser etched" along the outside. I have the same product purchased at A-- Hardware, take a look at the pictures there is a real difference and there is no way they were made by the same factory.2Black will rub off quickly.Coated with a very non durable paint. Have used it for two weeks and i see major wear spots already and its showing the bare metal underneath. I'm sure over time i won't be able to read it easily and will swap it for a better one. Design and everything works great but the wear makes it a flop.2Better than other squares. Wanted the magnets stronger for silly reasonsSo I'm a carpenter not a steel guy. I bought this in Hope's that I could stick it on metal ceiling track while framing to square up a stud and not have to hold it. Unfortunately the magnet/weight ratio doesn't work out for this application. But it's really nice to just stick it on the next stud and leave it there while you move the ladder. I've had it slip off a stud twice now but the studs were a bit greasy. The magnet is really nice when you are scoring a cut on a stud with your razor. You can slap the square on and it'll stay right on the mark while you reach for your knife or bump into it.The line striking notches are fantastic and I found them to be very accurate with big and small pencils.4EASY to readBest square for easy to read markings. Most squares are more crudely marked (almost sloppy) but this one is like fine etched and very impressive. Okay, it did cost a little more but the quality is outstanding so I'll go with Johnson from now on.5This is not good quality material.Cheap material my square was chipped yet well painted like nothing was wrong with it, ignored it but a 3 ft drop on a jobsite to a 3/4 plywood and my tip bent and chipped.1
