Customer Reviews

Good Price needs some mechanical engineering improvementsEasy to connect to existing wiring. ADT wanted almost $300 to replace my 30 year old siren. Mounting to the wall was a little tricky since this doesn't leave much room under snap on cover. 4LOUD ALARMThis alarm is very LOUD. Do not test if when you're anywhere near it. Just what the you need to truly get any intruder's attention. 5Five StarsHave not used it using it for last coin alert Ina car wash bay, it will be loud enough. 5One thing i didn't like which is not the fault of the Siren > ...Does the job, solid design. One thing i didn't like which is not the fault of the Siren > I found out after installation I cannot turn off the chimes for just the outside siren. Every time you open the door, window, activate the system etc. It beeps very loud outside. Spoke to alarm company and they said prob nothing you can do. 4Great, LOUD Siren. A little pricey, but well worth it!Wicked loud siren!! Just received this for a client outbuilding install. Client wanted to hear siren from inside house and they can definitely hear it 200+ feet away!! Would definitely recommend this unit! uses 12v 1.2 amps of power. Also has a normally closed tamper switch on back of unit. There are five wires coming from back of unit. Common/ ground, red for warble, yellow for steady tone, and two white wires for tamper switch. Tamper switch works in this method: it is a black plastic momentary on switch. When unit is flush mounted against a flat surface, the momentary on switch is pushed in therefore completing the circuit with alarm panel. So take two white tamper wires and hardwire to your alarm panel; one for DC out from panel, and one as the circuit in from siren tamper switch. Program alarm panel as a normally closed door/ window/ whatever zone. IF for any reason someone messes with it outside/ wherever, alarm will sounds if the system is armed. LOVE IT! 5There is no motion detection or battery.Loud. 5LOUD!This thing is loud! I put this on an anti porch pirate box outside my front door. I can turn it on and hear it through the whole house! I coupled this with a WiFi plug and a dc adapter that has a bare wire coupler. I painted mine because I didn t want it to stick out like a sore thumb; more so than it already is. We plan on getting more for around the outside of the house. 5well Made Plenty LoudUsed it on a Farm intrusion alarm 5Honey,Well done. That's what she said when I finished adding the LOUD siren to the front of our house. We had a siren in the house but no one can hear it outside. The slimballs will take off when they hear this one. The plastic cover plate is a bit weak. 5Works at voltages outside its spec sheet.I tested the siren I received with a voltage-adjustable bench DC power supply, which told me the current draw at different test voltages. The siren would output both steady and warble tones at all the voltages I tested - between 4V and 14V. The enclosed spec sheet listed the rated voltage at 12 VDC with 1.2 Amp max at that voltage. I do not own a sound meter so did not make measurements of the sound level at different voltages, but the sound at 14V was definitely louder than at 4V. Warble tone drew about 15% ro 20% more current than steady tone at each test voltage (when warble and steady tone wires are both supplied voltages, only the steady tone sounds.) These are my measurements of warble current draw, rounded up to the nearest tenth of an amp:14V: 1.0A; 13V: 0.9A; 12V: 0.9A; 11V: 0.8A; 10V: 0.8A; 9V: 0.7A; 8V: 0.7A; 7V: 0.6A; 6V: 0.5A; 5V: 0.4A; 4V: 0.3AOf course one should use a power supply matching the spec sheets rather than numbers from "some guy on the internet." I just happened to have a spare 12V, 1A wall transformer that does not meet the spec sheet requirement of 1.2A, but my testing shows that it should be fine to use.Note that anyone wanting to use this with Z-Wave needs a Z-Wave controlled power outlet plug, an AC to 12 VDC transformer to plug into the Z-Wave outlet, and then be willing to wire the transformer to the siren - either by soldering a plug to the siren's wires that mates to the transformer's plug, or cutting off the transformer's output plug and connecting the transformer output wires to the siren's power input wires. So some rudimentary electrical skill required (e.g. watch your polarity!) 5
