Customer Reviews

Best to use for the same type of paint or ... Works well. But beware: Best to use for the same type of paint or color. You will have to completely peel off the dried paint in order to prevent the pieces from contaminating a different batch of paint. Those dried pieces will spin off, eventually get on the roller, and end up on a surface that you wanted to have a smooth final finish. 4Must-Have accessory for any painting project If you're going to do any painting, do yourself a favor. If you don't own a drill, go buy the cheapest one at the hardware store. You can probably find one for $30 if you look around. Then buy one of these things for five bucks. Those will probably be the most valuable painting tools you can buy. When I was a kid, we used to have to mix paint by hand with one of those flat sticks. It didn't seem to matter how long we stirred. The paint never mixed completely. Then, hardware stores started carrying those paint can shakers, but I didn't want to go to the hardware store every time I needed to mix paint. It has been a while since I had a painting project. I had one come up this winter, and I conceived of the idea of attaching something to my drill to mix the paint. I decided to see if maybe someone else had thought of the idea, and sure enough.I must warn that you need to look closely at the date that says when it's going to ship. It took about a month to get mine. That's not going to knock any stars off of the review because it's not supposed to. It's just a good idea to check on this item. I ended up buying another one at my neighborhood Ace, so I actually have two of these now.Mixing the paint with my drill on a low setting took maybe a couple of minutes. It was probably faster than that, but I went a lot longer than I thought I needed to simply because I've had bad experiences mixing paint. It did a great job. The paint went on great, and it looks great. It was also very easy to clean afterwards. I used an matte acrylic paint. After I used it, it sat for about an hour. That was long enough for the paint to dry but not cure, and it peeled right off.I hate painting, period. But this thing sure does make it easier to start a job. If you have a drill, it's a no brainer. If you don't have a drill, add $35 to your project budget and save yourself a ton of time. 5Reconfigurable as needed for small openings- Worked well for me because this doesn't have the usual ring on the bottom; I needed this specifically to mix up some paint in a rectangular container with a small 2-1/4" cap, as the other mixer I have, made of metal, had no way to get past. This was too large as well, but with a pair of razor blade cutting shears, I trimmed away the largest diameter section at the bottom so it would fit through the hole.No loss in the mixing capability, as it was able to puree it in short order with my drill. It was just long enough to reach bottom; no problems, though having a couple inches more would have been nice.Cleanup was easy enough, just wiped with a towel, and any residue can be poked off with a screwdriver when dry, as paint doesn't stick to the material. 5You probably don t need this In theory this is a great idea, a drill attachable paint mixer. I m currently doing some decorating so I attached it to my drill, opened the can of paint, submerged the drill and started mixing. And as I watched the mixer doing it s job suddenly realised how ridiculous the whole thing is and how much more work is actually involved with the set up and then the cleaning. I d Probably suggest adding a handle option to this because it will make more sense to manually mix paint. The takeaway is it does what it promises but it s also somewhat pointless 4Saved me from a Popeye arm! This well-made contraption did in two minutes what likely would have taken me 1/2 or more to do by hand.Had an old can of paint that had never been opened and had settled so much that the liquid on top was almost clear. This mixer made quick work of combining the contents of the gallon and was virtually effort free. Pretty sure that I would have thrown away the paint if I had to use the traditonal wood paint stirrer.Worth EVERY dollar!! Just be sure to *read* the instructions. If you put it in a cardboard box, it will save you from splatter. (Don't ask how I figured this out....LOL!) 5One Of The Best In Its Class This review is for my use with latex and acrylic paint. I try to avoid oil paint like the plague. The head is firmly attached and appears to be well made. At a purchase price of $5.48 as of the date of this review you can t go wrong. This is my perfect solution for the occasional DIY job. Would not recommend for daily professional use.I used the mixer attached to my cordless drill on low speed which was enough to do the job. With the mixer head at the top of a full gallon of paint there was no splatter. Just make sure the head is submerged. There is plenty of room to attach to a drill when used with a full gallon. See attached photos.Cleanup is easy. I used a paper towel to wipe off the wet paint and let the remaining paint dry. I scraped the dried paint off with a plastic putty knife. The remaining dried paint was removed with a green scrubbing pad and plain water. Metal tools may damage the head and excessively scratch the shaft which may invite premature rust.My concern rust is assuming the shaft is steel coated with whatever it is coated with. If the shaft is a corrosion resistant alloy then forget about rust and enjoy. 5A must have! I don t know what I d do without this! This is so much quicker and more thorough than using a stir stick. It cleans up nicely too. While painting I keep a cup of soapy water (for latex paint) nearby so when I m done mixing I can drop it in the soapy water until I need to mix again. I spin the water off, drop it in my paint and mix some more. At the end of the day I ll squirt it with some Spray Nine (from Home Depot and Amazon. It s amazing for paint brushes too), rinse and call it a day. This fits in quart size cans as well. This mixing tool is a huge timesaver! 5Once you get the hang of this, it works perfectly! I bought this because previously, I would take paint cans back to the big box store and have them re-shake them. No more of that. However, one word of warning. I would suggest that you go online to see how to use these. I took an old paint can lid, drilled a hole in it and inserted this into the hole before adding it to my drill. That saves any splashing of paint that might occur (might? Oh no..WILL occur). There are scads of these for sale online. This one is very easy to clean (I'm using latex paint, so soap and water is all I need). It works with my drill and on slow speed does a quick job of mixing paint. And the price is right. 5Worth way more than it cost; cleans easy This thing did an absolute fantastic job mixing the thickest compound you could imagine. I used it to mix a roll on bed liner paint that has rubber partials in it. The attachment worked without a single issue. The poly mix they use for the spades is flawless. In the first mixture I was able to clean it with water. With an oil based compound I was able to wipe it down with acetone. Both instances gave a pristine clean. It had no issue mixing gallon sized compounds. 5Good Mixing with Nice Hex Shaft Feature Best feature is the hex shaft. It allows me to snap it into a quick release hex holder on my drill. When done mixing I can just hit the release mechanism on my drill chuck and the messy mixer drops into my shop sink for cleaning. The fin design works very well on a gallon of paint and mixes fine with no splatter (as long as you stop the drill before lifting it above the surface of the paint). 4
