As far as the company, NCH is concerned, I personally would never utilize their services again. Although they provide for MAC OS, you are If you have MAC, you are out of luck. Setting it up was no problem, I just never used it. I recommend NCH ONLY for Windows/PC, but not for MAC! 5Does the job easily and efficiently I bought this foot pedal to use for transcription work. It is a lifesaver and a timesaver. I really liked the flexibility of changing what the different buttons do and the ease of setting this up. I would certainly recommend it for anyone who does a lot of transcribing or needs to stop/start audio frequently. 5Still Working Good Year and a Half Later It's September. I bought this in Feb 2016. It's still going good! And I travel with mine so it gets unplugged and packed up often enough. 5Lightweight foot pedal. It works as described. 5Great products for professional quality transcription The products arrived quickly from Dictation Depot and both the software and the pedal were super-easy to set up on our Windows 7 PC with MS Word. Running the Express Scribe software allows you to load audio files into a queue and the key commands (start, rewind, stop, etc.) work in Word as long as Express Scribe is running in the background. Couldn't be easier.I'd ordered these items for my wife who's setting up shop at home after many years as a professional transcriptionist -- she reports that it's improved her productivity almost instantly. The download code was sent right away so we could install the Express Scribe software and get started. The software has the features she needed -- particularly the options to set rewind duration and to start playback a specified amount of time earlier than the last stopping point. Time points in the dictation are easy to go back to. And the default function keys made it easy and faster to transcribe even before the foot pedal arrived.All in all, she is very happy with these products and with the overall purchase. 5Heavy duty, professional equipment, great customer service Not only is this a heavy duty unit that works like a dream, the customer service is BEYOND excellent. I have a MacMini and the unit works well with it, but the software license registration was glitched. It was difficult to download and I never got my registration key. Repeated attempts to register it and use it resulted in me being locked out of my own software. I had to call customer service. Apparently the company is very small and the person who handles things was out that day. Another rep took care of me and went above and beyond to help me resolve my issues even tho I was being a hysterical, frantic bitch because I was losing work because I couldn't get the software to run. She was patient, responded quickly and gave me a new license to use. I can't say enough about this company, Dictation Depot. The owner is committed to good customer service and empowers his employees to make smart customer service decisions. Bravo!Like I said, the unit itself is heavy, made of metal and has a good, heavy duty power cord. It works with a Mac or PC (I have a friend with a PC who ordered one based on my referral and he loves his unit as well).Operation is smooth and I am amazed at how customizable the software and pedal is. This is SO worth the money. Excellent unit, excellent company and excellent customer service. It's truly a professional piece of equipment and will hold up to an office environment with multiple users. The pedal squeaks after only a few weeks of use, and I still have to use separate software to convert Ds2 files. What I read before ordering the express scribe indicated I would be able to play Ds2 files directly. However, that has not been the case, and the website is extremely difficult for finding an answer. 4I have never been so ripped off before Beware of purchasing the Infinity USB Foot Pedal w/Express Scribe Pro. I have never been so ripped off before. I rarely post online reviews but after viewing all the positive reviews here and purchasing the product I have been disappointed big time and I have no choice but to return the product. The pedal works fine. The problem seems to be the Express Scribe Pro software that was bundled with it. It's version 5.78. I cannot transcribe MP3 audio files using the Express Scribe Pro software because the quality of the audio playback is so poor. No matter what I do, a great many words are indecipherable. In contrast, I can hear everything clearly on the same MP3 file with Audacity software. But Audacity software does not work with the Infinity USB Foot Pedal. Express Scribe Pro Version 5.78 was bundled with the foot pedal. I installed it and registered it as directed. When I attempted to get support for the Express Scribe Pro software from its manufacturer NCH Software, I received a message telling me that priority goes to customers with paid support contracts - to become a paid support customer costs $33 for their bronze support, Up to 3 email consultations (10 minutes each consultation), must be used within 1 month of the date of purchase to $64 for their Platinum support, Platinum Support Service Up to 9 email consultations (10 minutes each consultation), Plus up to 2 telephone consultations (15 minutes each consultation), must be used within 12 months of the date of purchase, includes backup of your program file and key for two years. The software that was bundled with the foot pedal, that I thought I paid for when I made my purchase, is useless. The issue of incoherency is cconfirmed by other posts on the NCH Software user-to-user support forum, with no response from NCH. 1the manufacturer replaced it in good faith, which I thought was great customer service This is my third AltoEdge foot pedal. The second pedal was the one that's compatible with the free version of Express Scribe. For reasons which still mystify me, it just quit working. It might be a software issue with Express Scribe (since that can be very glitchy and their software support is rather customer hostile), or perhaps the foot pedal just died. My first Alto Edge foot pedal died a premature death after a very short time and very little use. Though it was past the warrant period, because of the lack of use, the manufacturer replaced it in good faith, which I thought was great customer service, and I really appreciated it.The latest version, which I bought in April (waited to see how it did before writing about it) is compatible with the Pro version of Express Scribe. The pedal seems to be doing fine. (Knock wood.) Just in case, I bought an extended warranty. Haven't needed to use it.As usual, Express Scribe continues to be glitchy, even in the Pro version. That makes the foot pedal a bit temperamental at times, though nothing that's been outrageous. The biggest problem has always been that Express Scribe is slow to work out software conflicts when Apple releases a new OS and I have to wait until I can install the new OS or the foot pedal won't work. 4
