Customer Reviews

Great with major flaw! Powerful. Sturdy. But the damn trigger lock button is horribly positioned. It get locked unintentionally and causes major issues. 3Best drill/hammer I have owned. As this is the first drill hammer I owned but it performed just as the instructions said. This made my job of putting anchors into the cement a lot easier than I thought. I tried using my other 1/2" drill without the hammer effect and it was nill. Bought this-read the instructions and drilled twenty 3/8" anchor holes in fifteen minutes. What a piece of cake. And you can switch it over to use as a regular drill. Thanks Amazon!! 5It's a bargain I only needed to drill one 3/8" hole 3" deep in very hard cement to mount a security door. The building supply rental wanted $69 to rent a hammer drill for one day. I tried drilling the cement with a regular VS high torque drill, I couldn't get pass the carbide tip of the drill bit, so I put the project on hold for awhile. I seen this advertised on ebay and decided to look for the best price. By reading some of the reviews buying this hammer drill was a gamble but if it worked the gamble would be well worth the money for my needs. With very little force applied as suggested, this hammer drill cut through the cement like butter. For me the depth gage is a little to hard and time consuming to set up, but I just figure how deep I want the hole to go and wrap a piece of black tape a couple times around the drill bit at the proper distance. I had no problem using the speed control, after I set the maxium speed needed with the little dial on the trigger, I had complete control of the speed with the trigger. The Hitachi hammer drill is not for breaking and chipping cement like the big powerful hammer drills but for normal duty around the house, I feel its a good investment. 5Great addition to the toolbox - use the right tool for the job Drilled through mortar much better than my regular rotary drill and it came with a carrying case!! great bargainUsed the bosch blue something bits and it worked great. Kept the bit cool with some water and didn't need to put much pressure on the drill. Took about 2 minutes per hole while my rotary drill couldn't even scratch the mortar after 15 minutes. 5Great hammer-drill I bought this to drill holes in cement-block walls, which it does just fine: I'm impressed at how easily! One can switch off the hammer feature, & it then works fine in wood or metal. [Be aware that there are different drill bits for different materials, differing quite a bit in the details of the cutting edges.] 5Need to make a hole in something? This drill is very good at making holes.I have used it to make 100s of hole, including many 2" hole saw holes through studs.I have had no problems with this drill and I can say the same about my other hitachi tool (impact drive). This is easily the best drill for the money right now. Take advantage. 5Five Stars Amazing hammerdrill!. Small but powerful. I'm so happy I purchased this. Hitachi also has excellent customer service. Thank you. 5Great value. Had it for damn near a year. Still working well. Nice case. 5So far so good. Only used hammer function twice, for two anchors. I abuse it more for high-torque things, even though it's not a low-speed drill. I always feel like I'm on verge of overheating it. I base this on the smell mostly. When used for actual drilling, and screw driving, seems fine, much less heat. When used to turn nuts/bolts, advance a manual winch, or something (lol), you're probably gonna toast it. Seems OKAY at grinding/brushing, but that too is somewhere you get whiff of the heat. When I use it for these inappropriate low speed things, I pull it back from work a bit and run it at high speed to get some air through it, and give it a break every now and then. Most people who burn this thing out, are probably doing things like this. The motor does not have gear reduction of a low-speed drill, the fan won't move enough air for those tasks. 4Well balanced. High torque drill !! EDIT !!!! Drill is defective after 4 hours use !!!! So far I am totally satisfied with this drill. I have used the hammer drill on this and it works great. This drill has plenty of torque to drive the bits that I have used right through brick, wood and steel. This is a good product in my opinion.EDIT !!!!!I might have a total of 4 hours use on this drill, and now when I use the hammer part of the drill, for some weird reason, the chuck loosens almost immediately, and just spins on the masonry bit. Yes I know how to chuck a bit... LOL.. Not sure if this will happen with other bits, but am guessing that it will.I'm going to contact the seller to see what they have to say. But I'm sure it will be my dime that has to purchase a new chuck for this. At this time I'm not overly pleased with my purchase of this drill. 3
