Customer Reviews

Stable under Xubuntu 14.10 and debian I build my own Linux boxes and with the advent of decent Steam support, this has been a good card for gaming and minimal issues. Have not yet tried with bleeding edge drivers but is very stable with Civ 6, no tearing or artifact noted and it takes the load off my CPU for many other games that used to gun my board fan. 5Great card for an older machine! Purchased the Zotac Geforce GT 730 Zone Edition with 2gigs of DDR3 Ram to upgrade an older PC. Acer Aspire M3910 that had on board graphics. I'm running a core i3 550 first generation CPU and purchased the upgrade CPU core i7 870 first Generation LGA1156 Socket. I haven't installed the new CPU yet because it doesn't have graphics capabilities like the i3 550 does. So I purchased the Zotac GT 730 to give me graphics before installing the i7 CPU. My process for installing the GT 730 was very simple. I opened my case installed the GT 730 and rebooted my system. My system booted into windows 10 and everything looked larger than usual. Windows 10 made it's own adjustments little by little. I didn't use the install DVD that came with the card. I did go to Nvidia.com and downloaded the most up to date drivers for windows 10 and the GT 730 card. Everything works great! I tell you all this because a few people have problems installing these cards. I know all systems are not the same but take the simplest path first before you update your bios or uninstall/install drivers. Most systems will recognize new hardware on their own. Do update to the latest drivers for your system tho. 5Basic Card that does a good job for a non-gamer I purchased this video card because I have been having a problem with the display port connection on my current card (ATI Radeon HD 5700). The card can handle 3 monitors, but in a specific configuration. Anyway I decided to move the display port connection to another video card using VGA or DVI (My current configuration on the ATI card uses a display port-to-VGA adapter). This way I can connect directly to my monitor/TV without the adapter. The card works fine. One thing to note is that the heat sink is quite thick. On the image you can see the front, but it also wraps around the back of the card as well. So any cards in adjacent slots would be tight. I have a USB 3.0 card in the next slot and the heat sink is touching one of the capacitors on it. I may remove that USB card since I don't use it or I may just keep my eye on things. I don't now how hot this new video card's heat sink will get. I do like the idea that it is a heat sink and not a fan.Installation was quite simple keeping the above information in mind. I used the CD to install the drivers for the device I think. I say that because perhaps it just took Windows 7 a bit longer than I anticipated to find the correct drivers to use for the device. I had put the Zotac CD in to install the driver and started the process. After selecting the OS in the installation setup program it didn't seem to do anything. I did it again and then a dialog popped up indicating that the drivers were installed and to restart. So wait a while after installing the card to see if Windows indeeds gets the correct drivers without the CD.I am not a gamer so I can't comment from that perspective. The card installed easy and the image quality looks very good. I'm happy with the card. Hopefully I won't have any heat issues. If so I'll update this review accordingly. 4Nice refresh for older PC with small power supply I was looking for a low power graphics card to update a Lenovo Thinkcentre workstation into something usable for home use and light gaming (Roblox, Minecraft etc). The built in Intel chip based graphics were really low end. In addition the workstation only has a 240 Watt power supply. I did replace the sata drive with an SSD which compensated a bit for the power increase but I don't it would have mattered.Others have mentioned this card has a big wraparound heat sink since it's fanless. I knew that going in and I knew my x16 slot was right next to my CPU shroud. Well, I had to trim the plastic shroud a bit to get it to fit but I had a feeling I would have to do that. Just keep it in mind. The other issue out of the box is the HDMI port wouldn't work, only the DVI. In this case the latest drivers didn't help and I ended up having to flash the PC bios (it was way behind on updates) and that solved the problem.I've been happy with it ever since. No problems with power consumption or overheating. 4NOT for gaming If you think swapping out your 1GB gaming card for a 4GB card, this is NOT for you. One cannot get even 20 fps on most games, even with the game settings down to minimums. The one GB card I had, using the combination of overclocks and cpu tricks anyone can find, ran the same games at 30 fps with medium settings. There's a reason those 4GB cards for gamers are 6x the cost of this, do your research first. Everywhere I double checked brought up that this is basically functioning like a 1GB card with ride along storage to allow streaming of video, still graphics work, but it can't handle gaming, expect to spend at least 3x the cost of this card for even midstream gamers, 6x for over 30fps and 3D or 60fps with medium for most, example, steam games. 2Works in this HTPC application Using this card for my home theater PC. I gave up on the integrated Intel graphics due to numerous video and audio driver bugs that prevented everything from viewing HBO to providing surround sound to the home theater amplifier. The good news is this card, with far more reliable nvidia drivers, resolved ALL problems I was having with Intel. Thank you nvidia. The card wasn't without issues though. First. it extends over into the next slot area, which in my small HTPC box is my cable card/tuner. I was able to fit both in, but the cable tuner card is being pushed, contorted and runs considerably hotter now.I'm running video at 1080p HD resolution, which works great. Tried it at the supported 4K @ 60 and 30 modes, and the video, while certainly viewable, was noticeably choppy in some situations. Not a big deal though as there's no real advantage in upscaling a 1080i cable channel to 4k.Overall I'm happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend. It's far better than the horrendously buggy Intel graphics solution. 4If you need dead quiet, lower profile and low power, this is it. So I was looking for a quiet card to drive a 4K tv I am using as a monitor; The other caveat is that it needed to be powered by the motherboard with no external power. This thing is like 26 watts under full stress. This is NOT the fastest card and your not going to be playing the newest games on this at any resolution BUT it does a great job for normal apps, some 4k movie bits and videos from whatever. This accomplished everything I needed in 4k @ 60 hz. 5Buggy in Win10 I've tried the card in 2 Win10 computers and it has been very buggy. I'm using the latest drivers from Nvidia. One problem is the computer will not always wake from screen saver and a reboot is required. The computers will also occasionally go black during use which also requires a reboot. I've had issues with video playback appearing black. I've also had problems with video editing. The lack of a fan makes the card quiet, but it also runs very hot. I've tried it in an i5 and a older core 2. All the problems went away when I switched to Radeon cards. If you're running Win7 you might have better luck. 2Great Value - Works Great with 4K Display At this price point I was a little hesitant to purchase - but a client of mine ordered several 4K displays and needed a card at this price point for office desktop applications. I don't game - so I can't speak to that - but it is perfect for the 27" 4K monitors that they are being used for. Also - it's great that they are fanless - less maintenance! 5Graphics card fits ok ...... Solution's I found based on other review complaint's-------------------------- - Issue -The vga does not fit due to the socket being too close to the edge of the desktop cover.- Solution -when having the dvi connected / not and the graphics card is connected (you put it on your motherboard)' just push the dvi socket to the side a little bit while at the same time connecting your vga cable. It will move a little bit, giving enough space to connect the vga.--------------------- Issue -windows 10 updates keeps messing with the graphics card installation and I can't get it to work- Solution -turn your windows 10 automatic updates off before installing the drivers, turn it all off.----------------------- Issue -when installing the drivers, it doesn't work on the main screen, it does nothing- Solution -on the main install screen select browse the CD --- driver --- your operating system --- setup.exe (install drivers from there)-----------------------DISCLAIMER:Please be aware that after i added and installed my graphics card that it did raise the temperature of my cpu and motherboard a bit, due to the cpu and motherboard working to it's full capacity like it should / it simply working harder to make the "upgrades" work the way they should. Be sure you know how to keep your desktop temperature down if this happens. Hopefully this helped many of you. 5
