Customer Reviews

Cheap Alternative Filter AdapterThis product is great if you're looking to save money versus the Canon branded version of this. Warning though, the construction of the barrel feels exactly like that of the Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. Also known as the nifty fifty. In other words, it feels a little cheap because it is made of plastic. The camera is still as fully functional as it is without it, such as zooming the camera in and out. I do not know what the canon version is made of, but if it is plastic, it would make more sense to buy this, and put the money saved into new filters. It being plastic though, does not add much excess weight, which is good as most people buy this camera for those times they don't want to carry around full DSLR but still want excellent images. You may want to get a lens cap (just for looks) because when the camera is off there is a space that looks rather awkward. But if that doesn't bother you then whatever filter you put on it should be fine.****Four stars because it is plastic, if Canon's is also plastic (which I am unsure of) then I would give it five stars. ****4Works wellI've bought a new Samsung nx1000 recently, my first 'real' camera. I wanted to try out macro photography, but Samsung's macro lens goes for at least $500. After learning about extension tubes, which allow for macro photography on your existing lens, I set out to find some for the NX mounting system that my Samsung camera uses. Unfortunately, 3rd party accessories for Samsung cameras are a little harder to come by than Canon and Nikon ones. Luckily, I managed to find this set of extension tubes (there's another I found, by Fotga, but I suspect they're the same tubes, just rebranded). I got them yesterday, and tried them out on my 30mm pancake lens. I can confirm that the camera body is able to communicate with the lens just fine. The tubes don't quite slide onto the lens/body as smoothly as I would've liked, but they go on without much resistance and fit snugly against the lens/body. I snapped a few macro shots and I'm happy with the results. Autofocus works, but to a limited degree. That's probably not the fault of the tubes, I imagine it's due to the very shallow depth of field when working with macro shots. One problem that I did run into is that occasionally the camera body would lose communication with the lens. That means that (auto)focus and aperture can't be controlled. Simply restarting the camera fixes it, usually, but I once did have to remove the tubes completely and put them back on. This might be due to physically handling the tubes and lens, which might cause the body to momentarily lose electrical contact with the lens, necessitating a restart. It hasn't happened often enough for it to be a huge deal, but I'll update this review if the problem worsens as I get more use out of the tubes. For now, though, I'm happy with the results.4Useless adapter, it's 1/50 the price of the Leica one, but worth less than thatIf you want sharp, in-focus images from your Leica M lenses mounted on a Leica CL camera, this adapter is *not* what you want. My copy of this Fotasy LM-LL adapter is worse than useless. I used it with a number of Leica M mount lenses such as the 50mm Summilux, 30mm Summicron, Zeiss 35mm Biogon, and more.I wasted a lot of time and SD card space. hours of shooting and importing images wasted. It's impossible to get in-focus images with this adapter at or near infinity focus. I thought my CL camera or my lenses were faulty until I tried a simple test. A carefully focused shot of a framed photo about 20' away with my old 50mm collapsible Summicron mounted on the CL body wit the Fotasy adapter and one shot with the same lens mounted on the M240 body.... The results were a blurred, out-of-focus, worthless image from the adapted lens vs. a sharp, beautiful image from the same lens on the M240 body. Conclusion: the adapter is worthless.1Works well for my Panasonic S1 L mount and old canon FD glassThe Panasonic S1 is a great video camera but their L-mount glass lenses are prohibitively expensive (be they panasonic branded or even sigma branded)... As an owner of EF and FD glass from Canon, I have used the Sigma MC-21 adapter for EF lenses (honestly overpriced as the autofocus is sloppy and I mostly use it in manual), and thought I'd try these cheap Fotasy canon FD adapters for L-mount, and lo-behold they work well, no complaints. It's all manual and mechanical in terms of aperture control and focusing, but I'm very happy about the results. I've tried the canon FD 50 1.4 and a very useful Vivitar FD 28-90 F2.8-3.5 zoom lens on the S1 with this Fotasy FD to L mount adapter, and the results are lovely. Now I can have a great variety of lenses to use for the S1 without going broke with Panasonic or Sigma's money grabbing lenses (I'm not even talking about Leica which are for the top 0.1% wealthy owners/occasional shooters only)... Yet I'm a pro and have created many award-winning works but Panasonic never learns from their past mistakes, they just want to continue charging exorbitant prices for their lenses and paying for their talentless bloggers to shill for their overpriced lenses... Now with these types of adapters, you need not empty your wallers no more... yay!5Works With Modifications.I was obviously happy to see there was a much cheaper alternative to the expensive adapter sold by Leica, but skeptical none-the-less. None of my lenses are six bit coded, so I have no need for the electronic contacts missing on this adapter, but I was worried about how the camera would react to this. From my experience, lenses worked just fine with the adapter. My main issue with this product was the lack of polish, some of which is purely aesthetic. There are a few spots around the edge where the metal is kind of ragged and feels unpleasant to the skin. Also, when I first put on the adapter it wouldn't catch and lock in place. Upon inspection, I realized there is a little hole milled out where a pin on the camera locks into. This hole is filled with red paint on the adapter, and the paint had filled so much of the hole, that the pin couldn't lock into place, so I scraped some of the paint out, and now the adapter works fine. If you are willing to overlook a few issues, and scrape that paint out, this is definitely a decent alternative to the expensive adapter from Leica. I'm quite happy using the T with my M lenses.4Affordable, and it works!Does what it s supposed to do! Also it s easy to adjust the screw ring to rotate your M42 lens is in the right position for reading the numbers (not necessary but convenient).5Internal reflections an issueWhen viewed from the side that faces the sensor, the flanges of this adapter are not painted black. Therefore there are some internal angles where light reflected from the sensor can reflect back onto the sensor. The Leica adapter (at ten times the price) is painted black on all surfaces. This does make a difference. On some cheaper adapters I have painted the interior black myself. But on this one I think I may end up buying the Leica adapter.23 star just so, so.This cap, is not a real Canon lens cap. I bought it for my 200 f=2.8 L Canon lens to replace the real Canon cap I lost. It's not made as well, but it fits pretty good just not as well as original. I, don't know how they use the Canon name, and don't get flack from Canon. When I bought this, I thought it was a real Canon cap. I give it a three star, and that's being generous. I've been a photographer for 30 plus years. If you can afford it, but the genuine Canon3Excellent quality!Surprisingly this was the cheapest lens cap I could find for my Tamron lens . I figured what the heck, I ll try it. I couldn t be happier. The springs are stiff enough to give a secure fit. I love everything about this lens cap. My son stole the cleaning cloth, it works, so I am a happy mama.5Not worth the money!!!You get what you pay for! Does not grab on to the filter and slips, the Canon marking was wiped off the first day simply from touching it by hand. Save your money and just order the Canon one or some after market not pretending to be Canon product. Waste of time and money...2
