This was pretty easy to set up This was pretty easy to set up. Put one end in the kitchen and the other behind the stereo so we can pump tunes through the stereo. Bluetooth connection is good for about 10 feet and deteriorates after that if people walk in between the phone and the wall unit. That can be overcome with a cable connection but we haven't ever done that. We just keep the phone closer to the outlet. 3Very clear sound This unit works great. Very clear sound with no noticeable background static - even if music playing is stopped.Installation Comments-(Only reason for 4 stars) The faceplate hole is too small for standard US screws. Since these screws need to thread into the center holes of the unit, this is a really annoying problem. The screws also show on the exterior of the face plate so you need standard faceplate screws. I tapped with a #6 quickly, but not everyone has the right tools.-The piece with the blue tooth, volume control, and USB chargers goes where you want to use blue tooth with your device. The piece with the power and sound ports go into your receiver or amplifier input, which is usually out of site somewhere.-You need a physical cable connected between the two pieces. If you don't have one or cannot easily run one, this isn't the right product for you. I used a standard ethernet Cat 5e, which works well due to the twisted pairs to reduce noise.Connection Comments-Connecting is easy. Just turn on using the sound knob. It will give you two minutes for your device to locate it and pair with blue tooth. If you don't get it setup in this time (generally more than enough), just turn the sound to off and repeat the process.-You may have multiple people or devices in your home connecting over blue tooth over time. I've noticed that our phones automatically pair when in range. Therefore, if two people have phones within range, it's best that one person turns off their blue tooth so the 2nd device can connect unobstructed.-Others have correctly highlighted that the blue tooth name is the same for all units and cannot be changed. Normally smart devices let you add a custom name for blue tooth connections so it's not such a problem (this name is only on the smart device - the Pyle unit's name is the same). Also, it's probably a good practice to not install multiple units within range of each other unless you have an application where this would make sense.Volume ControlOne thing that seems to confuse is the fact you have two volume controls. One on your device and one on the receiver of this product. They both work independently. For example, if your phone is on low volume, you may not hear well even when the receiver is turned up all the way. However, if your phone volume is turned up all the way, you may hear well on low or medium sound when set from the receiver. Even though your phone doesn't physically make sound when connected, the volume setting does control the amplitude of the signal to the receiver. 4Noisy Electronics, Hum won't go away. Too Noisy. I know Pyle is not known for high-quality components, but I so wanted to like this device. Conceptually it is perfect. Installed bluetooth over Cat5 for installation. There is too much humm and noise on the line. As soon as you power it up, the "buzz" in the audio system is noticeable and intolerable. I even tried running the audio through a hum eliminator audio transformer which reduced the hum, but did not eliminate it. This device "works" but the quality is just too low for professional installation. 2Worked for a month Worked for a month and then died. Power light stays on but Bluetooth is completely dead. Past my return date so I had to eat it. 1There is a detectable degradation of the sound quality when compared to direct analog inputs but it is fine for piped sound in our home I found the PWPBT67 in-wall Bluetooth receiver to be a very economical device to Bluetooth enable a non-Bluetooth stereo amplifier or receiver. The installation was very straight forward as was the pairing of the device (i-phone). There is a detectable degradation of the sound quality when compared to direct analog inputs but it is fine for piped sound in our home. The range of the Bluetooth device from the Pyle receiver is right at 10 feet before there is noticeable loss of signal where the sound cuts in and out. I was hoping it would be further but this may be dictated by the Bluetooth transmission protocol and not the Pyle device. Overall the addition of the Bluetooth capability to my system is very nice to have using this simple and inexpensive device. 4Easy to connect to and control is great. I bought this to connect Bluetooth items to my outside speakers and have it installed outside in a weather proof outlet box. Thanks to some pre-installed Cat6 wiring when I built my house, installing this device was easy. The controls for skipping songs works great on my iPhone. The power and audio jacks work great. High Recommend this product. 5Great solution to "personal" audio in a whole home system! Great little device. An un-labeled feature is that the USB port is always on. I have this in my home gym with a small Android tablet in a cradle on the wall next to it. This charges that tablet even when it's "off". The only downside is that if the unit is off the amplifier it's connected to better be off since when it's off the noise filters on the cables are also off, so you hear a popping/humming while it's charging a device.I wish you could name the BT receiver in it, so when you're pairing a new device and you have several of these around it's easy to pick out, but it's an easy problem to solve by just powering only one on at a time.I plan on buying several more of these! 4had to MOD it a bit I must admit that I did not fully understand what I was buying. I thought this was a remote bluetooth source for a whole home audio system, meaning, I could install this in one part of the house, and connect it via cat 5 cable to a base. Turns out, this is not how it is designed. I thought there were 2 devices, one, the receiver, and the other, the base, and they would connect together using cat 5 (I was mistaken). Turns out, there is only 1 device, showing the front that the back. Anyway, they way they have designed this is that it needs to be fairly close to a 110v source to power it. This would not work for my application, as I wanted to install it in a location where this would look sort of ugly. I decided to MOD it. I located the transformer next to my amp (in the basement), and cut off the low voltage plug. I had cat 5 running between the amp location and where I wanted the device. I used 2 of the cat 5 wires to supply the low voltage power to the device, and used 2 twisted pairs to return the audio signal from the device to the amp. I really thought it would not work, and if it did, I was expecting a lot of quality loss, but to my surprise, it worked like a charm. Not sure how long it will last, but for now, I'm happy. 5Don t use RJ45!!!!!!!!! So first one arrived, being a half a$$ed electrician I grabbed my spool of CAT5e from the garage and my RJ45 ends from the truck and ran my 20 run. Quality was, well for lack of a better word, S$&t!!! Thinking it was DOA I sent it back and got my second one, same result. Cut my RJ45 ends off twisted 3 pairs together for signals and left the power separate with a single wire. Surprise surprise the terminal connection worked excellently, quality is great! So if you plan on using this I d highly recommend some 16-5 wire! Abandon your plans of using cat5 or cat6! 4Don't buy!! Worked great for 6 weeks then just stopped working. I've emailed Pyle's tech support and customer service and after several days and multiple emails from me they finally replied giving me trouble shooting tips that I had already tried (I had already mentioned in my email to them what I tried doing to fix). They clearly didn't read any of my emails! I've since replied several times but no one will contact me back... horrible customer service and product! 1
