    Impressions from a motorcyclist. Not recommended Used for motorcycle riding.-Sound quality: passable (my $10 panasonics sound better)-Comfort: sub par (tolerable for <1hr of riding, wouldn't want to try any more)-noise isolation: sub par (Does very little to block wind noise, however ambient noises (e.g. other vehicles) are blocked quite well. Wish it was the other way around)Haven't owned these long enough to comment on their quality, although they feel quite cheap. (again, my $10 panasonics are better built). Overall I would not recommend. 2Makes Factory Work Tolerable!! I love these things. I listen to music or podcasts all day while I'm at work. If the supervisor sees me, he just thinks I'm wearing earplugs. As other reviews have pointed out, they're not the most durable pair of headphones. My first pair lasted about 3 months and I quickly ordered a new pair. As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to be using these 30-40 hours every week, they're worth every penny even if they do wear out. They make the work day go by faster and help you keep your sanity while doing boring and repetitive tasks. I'm glad they exist. I was actually pondering how I could make a pair of my own before I googled and saw that somebody already makes them. I recommend getting a little bluetooth receiver to stick in your back pocket and running the cord underneath your shirt. Helps keep it discreet, and you can quickly whip out your phone if you want to skip to another track, etc. and not have to worry about being tethered to a line. 5The first generation earplug design is much better I've been using these for about 3 weeks now, and they seem to be holding up well. I work with CNC mills, so I use high pressure air guns that are extremely loud. One thing I would recommend for everyone is ordering the older style bell-shaped foam plugs instead of using either of the plug designs included with this set. The new design of foam plugs are too hard, they're uncomfortable and can't be pushed deep enough into my ear canal to provide adequate noise reduction. Same problem with the silicone plugs, they are too hard and have to be pushed uncomfortably deep into my ear to provide protection. The older design of foam plugs are so much more comfortable and they expand to fill the ear canal much better than the new ones. I think plugfones should scrap the new design of foam plugs and ship the old style with all their earbuds. 3Buy this item. These earbuds are great for work. I work in a tire manufacturing plant and use aftershock titanium bluetooth headphones which are an approved item by the safety department. Occasionally I forget to bring my headphones and I'm so used to having music while I work that it totally throws me off. I bought these plug phones because they look like earplugs, but it was a pain because they had to be plugged into my phone. Recently I washed and dried them mistakenly for the second time which damaged them beyond repair. I was pleasantly surprised. Especially by the overall sound quality. This item is made well. I bought two more pair so I have a set at home and I keep a set in the bag that I carry to and from work for the rare times that I forget my headphones. I was also introduced to a bluetooth transmitter which I can plug my plug phones into, clip the transmitter to my belt and enjoy Wireless music because the transmitter turns them into bluetooth headphones. The transmitter has volume, skip forward and back controls. I most definitely recommend these plugfones alone or in conjunction with the bluetooth transmitter. Unpackaging was quick and effortless. Buy this item knowing that they work well... Just don't dry them in the dryer. 5Great Value I used these under my helmet during a recent cross-country motorcycle trip, and I am very pleased. They do muffle a fair amount of noise, and the audio quality is good, with a healthy amount of bass while also not sounding tinny on the other end of the spectrum. The cord is long, and I appreciated that the headphones have a piece to cinch the cords closer together. Also included is a cord tamer and a surprisingly useful carrying case. Finally, I got caught in the rain while wearing these which turned out to be a positive experience because it made the ear pieces more pliable, providing a better fit. 5Great idea, but broke easily They broke after just four hours. The foam is comfortable and I was happy with the volume output. I work in a very loud factory and the volume was loud enough to drown out all noise. However, I left it at a level at which I could adequately hear my music while also being able to hear what was happening around me. They look just like the earplugs that my company requires as PPE with the exception of the color of the wires being a bit lighter blue than in the picture. They were delivered quickly and were very nicely packaged. The return process was easy. The cord is long enough to run down my back under my shirt and plugged into my phone which I put in my back pocket. My team lead didn't notice that I wasn't wearing my actual earplugs. I'm going to purchase another pair with the hope that this first pair breaking was just a fluke. I gave three stars for delivery, packaging, ease of return, comfort, and volume. 3Loved them and they lasted 2.5 years I bought these in May 2016. I've used them under a motorcycle helmet and they worked well, though they got pulled out of my ears when taking off the helmet. I wear them while mowing or edging the lawn, though again, sometimes they get caught and ripped out of my ears. I keep them wrapped up in my purse with no bag and pretty often the buds come off the wire.I've also used them underneath ear-muffs while wood working. I've found that "bed phones" work far better for this because they're flat and bluetooth.Now, one of the ears has stopped transmitting sound unless I hold the wire in a very specific way. I was just going to switch to regular headphones because I use bedphones for most everything now (and they're bluetooth). But when I remembered that I use them for lawn work, there's not really another option. I'll search for a bluetooth version of these in the spring. 4The Plugfones Need Modification for Me I originally gave this product A ONE STAR RATING but a week later found a way to make these work very well so I changed it to a FOUR STAR RATING. Neither of the Plugfones ear plugs that comes with this product worked for me. So if neither of them works for you then read on!MOTORCYCLE APPLICATION WITH FULL FACE HELMET (extremely high noise environment)The Plugfones comes with two types of ear plugs: 1) Tapered foam, and 2) Ribbed siliconeTHE PLUGFONES TAPERED FOAM EAR PLUGS: The foam plugs ought to be the ones to use in order to provide the highest level of noise reduction. However, the foam inserts simply do not fit into my ear canal far enough to provide a "good" level of noise reduction (like traditional foam ear plugs do). They are simply too large to fit into my ear canal properly. There are many reviews here agreeing with this so I know I am not alone. The foam plugs are simply too large (when the plastic speaker inserts are inserted) to fit properly into the ear canal and thus the product is a no-go for me.THE PLUGFONES RIBBED SILICONE EAR PLUGS: Using the silicone ribbed ear plugs I can get them to fit into my ear canals more deeply but the overall noise reduction level of this product is completely INSUFFICIENT to provide proper protection for my ears. I went out and rode for 20 minutes with them and the noise levels are simply too high and I believe it would result in permanent hearing loss if I used them long-term and thus the product is a no-go for me.HOW I MADE THIS PRODUCT WORK FOR ME:I have always used the standard yellow 3M tapered foam ear plugs and they fit into my ear canal very well and gives so much noise reduction I can barely hear someone talking that is standing right next to me. I can barely hear them talking - but I cannot understand anything they are saying. Very good protection. And I was able to find a way to modify them to work! :-)HOW TO MODIFY 3M TAPERED FOAM EAR PLUGS (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO):I drilled out my ear plugs so the Plugfone base part will easily insert into my ear 3M tapered foam plugs and they work beautifully! However, you CAN'T drill the foam ear plugs at room temperature! You have to freeze them before you can successfully drill them out. I used a 7/64" drill bit and drilled about 1/2" deep into the 3M foam ear plug. See photos. 4The guys in the shop still have no clue these are headphones.. :D I love these things, our shop doesn't allow music of any kind, i have been using these for quite some time with great success. The sound quality is really good if you are using the foam earplugs, you lose a lot of bass if you use the rubber ones, but they stay cleaner and are easier to use.The foam pads don't compact very well for insertion due to the hole down the center and can be a challenge to get in some times.I only give them 4 stars instead of 5 because the cord is too short based on the nature of how these are used. Since you have to hide the cord, it would be nice if i could run the cord down my back under my shirt then tuck it into my front pocket with my mp3 player. So i either have to buy an extension cord, or wear a undershirt with a pocket which adds a slight detection risk if your over-shirt is a thin material. It would be nice if the cord was a foot longer. 4Stealth in a handy package. ng great.. Just ordinary ear plugs. Lol..Update.. Have had these since end of June .One side recently got really quiet.Now the other side is starting to go quiet.Have been using them 6 days a week 10 hours or more per day...Was hoping to get at least a year out of them.No complaints until now.Sounds pretty good.Not alot of base. But good enough. Update. My co-workers and I love to the use these in the stamping Factory that we work in. The only problem is they don't seem to last for more than a few months. Sometimes the connection gets bad down near the plugin or in my case one side will start to go quiet and then quit. But since this is the only thing we can get away with , we keep buying them. We have been using them for 10 to 12 hours a day. Plus on the lawnmower after work. Please plugphones, if you can , make them more sturdy. And this review is for the older version. 4
